I can't stop crying. I went to WW this morning and weighed and I only lost 3.8 lbs since last Saturday. I worked so hard at this and I'm so disappointed. There is nothing I can write or say that is going to make this better.

I have a doctor's appointment on Monday -- the post op. Somehow I have to get through the next couple days and figure out where to go. I have never been so disappointed in anything in my life.

You lost 3.8 lbs in one week? Well, that is wonderful news!!!

What am I missing? More importantly...what are you missing?

I think you may be mentally setting yourself up for failure. We do this sometimes. Gives us a reason to give up, because this is so hard. We are not comfortable and facing the challenge is so much harder than eating whatever we want.

Think about the progress you have made. You are winning the battle.

PLEASE! You must stop being so hard on yourself. Learn how to love yourself again and allow this transformation in your life. You are worth it, and you are doing amazing! Acknowledge this and keep losing that weight! Great job! You are a winner.

Thanks drowsy :-). Nice words. After I posted I went down and put 45 hard minutes on the elliptical.

I have set myself up for disappointment. I had it in my head that, on 570 calories a day with this exercise I would lose 10 lbs this week.

On to next week! I have a dr appointment Monday and maybe figure out some realistic goals for myself.

Sandra-the body is an amazing conservationist. It's ALMOST impossible to lose 10 pounds in a week and pretty unrealistic to expect to do so. The band average is 1-2 pounds a week, 3.8 is great, wonderful, and fabulous! Over a year 2 pounds a week is over 100 pounds...How long did it take you to put on the extra weight? If you're like most of us, it's much longer than a year, don't expect it to just disappear over night.

Keep up the good work but stop being so hard on yourself! You're doing great!

ummm HELLO??? 3.8 lbs in a week is fantastic! Why are you putting so much pressure on yourself?

Even on WW you must eat more than 570 cal a day. That is putting your body in starvation mode and then whatever you do eat, your body will hold on for dear life to it.

My doc has all his patients eating 1200 cal a day. Your body needs a certain amount of calories and fat per day just to function.

Be careful that all your hard work is for nothing if you aren't giving your body the basics it needs just to function daily.

Christie is right, 1-2 lbs a week is the realistic goal for lap banders. The lap band is the slower weight loss. It is not common to drop lots of weight all at once with the lap band. Be careful. You are doing great just don't give yourself the unrealistic goals. That is a quick trip to failure and whether you believe it or not you are doing great with the slow weight loss.

You are only supposed to lose 1-3lbs a week. Lap band is slower more gradual weight loss. Don't weigh yourself every week it just makes you more stressed. I was like that at first and then I became obsessed and crazy with it. That was no way to live. You can tell by your clothes if you are losing. Just weigh once every 2 or three weeks. That is actually what my support group suggests.
