How much time did you guys take off work? I am taking 10 days off so I can be onto soft foods by the time I go back. I am the lead trainer for the cheesecake factory so I am on my feet for hours straight. So I am a little nervous to go back as it is. But whet is really stressing me out is it's the last 10 days of the month, so its going to be tight coming up with rent this month! I wonder if I will feel up to going back sooner?

I think everyone is a little different. I took 5 work days plus the weekend. I do have a desk job but with a lot of walking around. Have you had previous surgeries? How do you deal with pain? I wasn't really in pain when I went back to work. I was able to go home afterwards and rest.

Can you work out something with the landlord? and extension?

Or something with work that if you do feel up to it that you can come back earlier? Maybe they can do 1/2 days for you?? or give you breaks if you really need it. I know it is hard when you are in that line of work but sometimes mgmt can be understanding..not always but sometimes.

Do you do any lifting? Lifting isn't good but actually being up and about is good??

My surgery date is June 18th- and I am also taking two (2) weeks off- so that I too can be on soft foods when I return back to the office. I do not think I can make it through a work day - only sipping on protein shakes! So, I agree that it may be best to return to work, when we can have a little food in the tummy!!

Yeah I have to carry plates and trays that are actually really heavy! I will probably have to work shorter shifts, but the GM is the only one who knows. I really didnt want to tell the staff and even some of the managers, but I will probably end up having to in case something happens or I get sick.

My surgery was 2/23 and I also took 2 weeks off from work. Not because of the actual surgery, but because I felt weak. M-

I only took 3 days which inludes the day of surgery. I mean everyone is different. I was lucky not to be in so much pain and I was prepared with what foods I had to take to work.

I returned to work two weeks to the day after surgery, and it was fine. I think you just have to be mindful of your own limitiations, and if you are feeling tired, you might need to take a short health break (get a glass of water, small snack, etc) Each one of us is different, but you are the one who knows your body best....best wishes, and take good care of yourself!
