I am so frustrated & confused! I was banded 3/18/2010. Including a 10 day liquid diet I lost 30# very quickly. I've been at this current weight for about a month. I called my dr. office to schedule my 1st fill. When I went Thurs. I was mentally prepared for it & ready to have restriction & not be able to eat so much. The dr. said that he does his fills in a hospital with x-rays. I can't go for 2 weeks because I'm a teacher. School's almost out & we can't take time off. :cursing:I've been reading for 2 months on this site about how everyone seems to get theirs done in the dr.'s office? I'm upset about 1. waiting 2. if my ins will cover it.

Did your doctor give you any reason other than the X-ray part? Is this a one-time deal just to make sure the band is in the right position? Is it because your insurance company will only pay if it is done in the hospital? I am surprised your doctor's office didn't inform you previously, but with all of the information they have probably been giving you, perhpas you were told but forgot? Don't be upset - I know it is easy for me to say, but you are doing great. A 30lb loss in such a short amount of time is amazing. Just keep up what you have been doing and you will continue to do really well. I would follow up with the doctor's office manager to see if this is normal procedure and if they do it that way every fill. Good luck to you.

If you have ever talked to people who had fills with out going under "x-ray" they talk about how horrible the fills are. The doctors just kinda guess where the port is and have to poke around looking for the exact spot to hit. When under fluroscopy the doc can see exactly where he is going. Mine did not hurt a bit. I have had about 6 fills. I wouldnt want it any other way. No guess work no poking around. Good luck and God bless.

I think the port has a chance to move a little. Especially the first time after surgery, I did, and happily would do it again under an x-ray. My doc does all mine under x-ray, but he has a machine in his clinic. He pokes me only once, fast and precise. then its's all done. I wouldnt want to have him dig around looking for the port!!

I know it's frustrating to have to wait but it is only two weeks though. After all I have gone through when I had my Band in I would have loved it if that was the only way my docs office had done mine. Which is what they did after awhile. I had alot of port problems mainly it just kept flipping and when they didn't do it under x ray it was worse. The poking and fishing around ughh I hate needles as it is. Long story short I had my Band taken out last week and am currently waiting for GBS.

i GET MY FILLS AT A HOSPITAL IN bOSTON, BUT THAT IS BECAUSE THE sURGEOUNS OFFICE IS THERE. I HAVE HAD 3 FILLS SO FAR AND NONE HAVE BEEN WITH X-RAY. MY PORT I GUESS IS EASY TO FIND, JUST BELOW THE SKIN AND IT HAS NOT CAUSED ME ANY PAIN.

ALL INS COMPANIES ARE DIFFERENT. I FOUND OUT THAT AT THE BEGGINING OF EVERY YEAR I WILL HAVE TO PAY 80% OF THE COST OF MY VISITS/FILLS TILL I GET TO A SPECIFIC AMOUNT AND THEN I WILL ONLY HAVE TO PAY 20%. SO FOR MY 1ST FILL OF THE YEAR I GOT A BILL FOR OVER $300, BUT MY THE SECOND FILL I GOT A BILL FOR LESS THAT $50. sO HOPEFULLY I WILL GET TO MY SWEET SPOT BEFORE THE END OF THIS YEAR

i WOULD CALL YOU INSURANCE AND ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS.
