My surgery is 06/09/10 by WLSC (Dr. Thomas Clark) I have had 1 other surgery in my lifetime, and the thought of it alone just scares me. Today is my 1st day as a Blogger, adn I have read many on here. this seems to be a good way to go pre and post-op. I keep questioning myself and if I really will be successful with taking my 287 pounds down to my goal of 150. Will i get the energy that I dont feel i have now? Getting your mind right is the hardest part of this process and i feel like Im fighting with myself, that in some ways I guess sounds crazy. I am about to turn 30 next week, and I still want to be that outgoing/fun girl..but think I need to stay away from my partying friends, so that i dont want to "have a drink". I did stop smoking about 3 months ago, and I knew I had to do it for the surgery, and I have been successful with that, but I do think about it all the time.

I hope that this decision I am making to have this is a good one, and that it helps me get myself to where I want to look and feel!

I was banded Wednesday. I was scared and nervous and had second thoughts right up until the day before surgery.

I think you can still party just limit your drinks or have something non alcoholic.

Congrats on stopping smoking. That is great. Smoking would prevent you from healing as quickly. I quit soft drinks and caffeine about 3 months ago. I only drink Vitamin Water Zero.

You will only be as successful as you want to be. Remember this is just a tool. I have friends who had it and they "cheat" and have only lost 10 lbs in 4 months. Keep blogging on here and find some new friends that will walk through this with you! I am here if you need any encouragement or help.

I love my band and I am sure you will too. It totally change my life and my family's life. I was so tired before I had the band. I had to take a prescription for narcalepsy to keep me awake while driving. I am now 4 months out and no longer need my medicine. I get up at 7 during the week with no problem and I even find the energy to excercise. I no longer take naps during the day. I feel great. I even think I lokk great too which is a great feeling.

As far as drinks go I drink propel water, my doc also allows me to drink diet soda. You'll learn all the little tips that help us get through our day. Good luck to you.

I have to tell everyone on here if you are given a choice of the lapband or the gastric sleeve......do yourself a favor and choose the sleeve....it is much more effective and alot less complicated and not as much pain......you will lose weight more effectively permanently....

Hi. I was banded on 5/12/10. Dr. Clark did my surgery!!! If you need any support or have any questions, please let me know. There were a few things that would have been nice to know. I'm one of those people that want to know every little detail about what is going to happen. If you want I can describe step by step what I experienced. Let me tell you though that everyone at the hospital was incredible! I know it is going to be worth it.

It is hard to find support in our area. Don't know why, but this is the only place I found any. I'm new to blogging as well so maybe we can learn together!
