I thought becuase I was only eating about 300-500 calories each day that I would certainly have some significant pounds dropped post-op. Unfortunately, I have only lost about 2 pounds since last Thursday (surgery date). Total weight loss is roughly 15 pounds. It's going up and down daily so I thought I would lay off the scale for a couple days and try to only weight once a week. I am just SO anxious to start seeing some significant changes!

I have been where you are and understand your frustration. Believe it or not, you are probably your own worst enemy right now. You have got to start eating more. When you take in that few calories your body comopletely shuts down. Your body acts as if it is being starved and will conserve calories to "save" itself. You also have to get in the protien. I know it doesnt sound right but I promies just try it for a week. Double your calories maybe even triple them. Eat plenty of protien (ie less carbs sugars etc) and see if you dont drop a chunk in a week. Just one week, try it.

Yes, you need protien, protein, protein>

I find I am less hungry and lose more weight.

I use the protein powder and add it to my food.

Thank you SOOO much for the advise. I'll do it. In fact, I just gulped down 25 grams of my whey protein drink. I'll keep you posted.

Don't get frustrated. I am sure it took you a long time to put the weight on, it is going to take a while to take it off. I have not been banded yet, but my doctor says you must eat enough to prevent your body from thinking it is starving itself. Listen to New Michelle, she seems to know what she is talking about. Good luck and keep moving forward. It will happen for you.

Keep the protein up to keep the hunger and cravings away. Eat if you are hungery (really hungery..listen to your stomach, not your head. Wait I see you just had surgery.

You just had surgery! Post op is about HEALING. NOT weightloss. Put the weightloss out of your head, or at least back behind healing. What is more important right now. What if you lost weight, but didn't heal right and had problems. First thing first. Heal. Protein helps with healing too. Keep your calorie intake up so your body can heal. One week out you should be getting more than 500 cal. Use protein shakes if you have to since you might still be on liquids.

Take care of your self and in a few weeks we can talk strategy.
