Today I went to the hospital for Pre-OP testing. I am cleared for banding...paid my bills. I also started my pre-op diet today. Ran into a fella that was in my education class and is getting banded the same day. He is an hour after me. It was good seeing a friendly face.

Isn't it funny how you can wake up and you aren't hungry at all but when you know all you can have is a protein shake suddenly your stomach is growling so hard it hurts? That was me today! I felt like I was starving. I had tomato basil soup for lunch with unflavored protein powder. It was pretty good but it would have been better if I had a grilled cheese to go with it.

It was a struggle. My boss and a few others decided to order chinese. They asked me. I declined. They asked me again telling me I might want to get it out of my system. I declined. I went to my testing, came back and they had already eaten. Yeah, Me 1 them 0. Then they decided they needed milk shakes. Again they asked me. I declined several times before they left me alone. They know I am on the diet starting today. Geez, let me the flip alone. Yes I probably will be beyond foul and mean before this is over.

I know what you mean..I actually crave shakes..I love them. You have your co-workers..I have my mom that I love so much!!! We all live together (they have an MIL- suite) that is attached to our house so she does her heavy baking in the house and we eat dinner together every night. We switch out who cooks a few nights a week....she bakes at least 2 if not 3 cakes a week claiming my dad has to have his sweet tooth filled. She even left one on the stove the other night to cool down so I could frost it!!!! Just what I need! My parents are addicted to pizza and pasta (and sweets)!!! So yes I have my live in "testers" that love me so much but don't need to lose weight. So I feel your pain!!! Glad to hear all is going well...one week to the big day!!!! Yippee!!

Good for you for remaining strong!! Whenever someone would do that to me, I'd jokingly and in a funny way, say "sabateour!!!" I can't spell the word, but said with the right amount of humor, people see it as funny, but also back off. I had my band put on yesterday! It all went very well. Very sore tummy, but still bearable. And not hungry - what a weird and lovely sensation!! Good luck with your band and your last week of pre-op!

It takes a lot of strength to say no when things are offered to you. Good job!! Good luck with the remainder of your diet. Just remember that eventually it will get easier!
