Hello, I new to this website. I registared a while back but Im just now getting back on. I wanted to get come feed back on how others are doing.. I hope I am using the site correctly. I had my surgery in 12/08. I lost about 50 pounds and have not been able to loose any more. I have not been able to get fills because my insurance has such a huge deductable so I havent had a fill since 05/09. I am starting to get discouraged abt the surgery and feel like it could end up be a danger to me. A coworker went to the dr b/c she had stretched something and food was forming in to bacteria.. very scary thought. So Im worried abt that plus just need some encouragement. Does anyone have tips on how to keep it going if you dont have money for fills?

Welcome to the site  I am in a similar situation as you. I had my surgery in 11/09 and am unable to get fills do to money and now I'm pregnant. Just trying to stay positive and live as healthy as possible. Even with no fills the band and the years worth of pre banding classes have changed the amount of food I eat. You could find lots of scary things that could happen to you but unless you are having problems with your band I wouldn't spend the time being worried. Hopefully you were aware of the risks before your banding. The band is a tool that can help you, you might not be able to use it the way you thought right now but, hopefully that is something you can work towards. Keep trying for your personal goals and you can do it

Thanks, I think I was aware of the risk, I think listening to people that havent had the surgery some times get to me. I cant each as much as I use to, it wont allow me but Im not loosing I guess b/c Im not doing enough as far as my portion of keeping it going. because I do not excercise. I always plan to but I never end up doing it which is part of the reason I had the surgery b/c I could never seem to excercise. People told me that it was a tool and I guess I just didnt realize it still yet. Some times I wish I had of had the bypass instead but then you still have to work to keep it off. But I feel like atleast I would have lost more weight. I dont know.. thanks for your comment.
