Wow!! What a difference a week makes! I am back to my normal routine and I feel great. Today, is the first day I have noticed hunger. Is this normal? My first fill is in 4 weeks and I do not want to gain back the 10 lbs. lost! Please respond.

are you eating enough protein? I was also hungry after my first week, but I find that eating enough protein makes a big difference, I started adding the whey protein powder to whatever I was eating.

Yes, you are normal. The first few weeks are hard. The hunger is real. Remember the rules and follow them. If you eat the protein first and fill up on that you will feel fuller longer. No liquids with the meals or you wash the food thru the first pouch and do not feel full. That was the hardest thing for me to learn. I will say the first weeks you can eat more than before you get a fill. Just remember you have a tool now that will help you. It is about choices you make.

Also head hunger may and can be psychologic. I had to work on that. I have been banded almost a year now lost 97 pounds. Best wishes imaluckydog

Yes this is normal, I was banded on March 19, 2010. My first week post op was fairly easy, the second week is when I felt a little head hunger and my weight loss seem to have stalled when I went to full liquids. At my 2 week appt. the PA told me to move to pureed foods, he said if it has a mother I could eat it....Lol and to eat 80 grams of protein a day and to consume 800-1000 calories a day and drink my water. Once I started that the scale started moving again and is still moving nicely. I am down 16 lbs since surgery and 24 lbs total. I go in for my first fill on May 4th done under fluoro...if I am doing well he may not give me one, will keep you posted. Fyi......I love my band! Still wonder though is most of my success is the band or will power.....LOL!!!!
