Okay, I was banded 12.01.09 and I have only lost 17lbs to date. I have had 3 fills and I still feel hungry after eating a saucer of food. I am not making horrible food choices, and I exercise at least 3 days a week. My surgeon for some reason will not tell me how much he has filled my band with...the last time i saw him, he was just fussing @ me and making me feel even worse than I already do. He says I am the worst patient he has ever had. Preop i was 296 and when I weighed myself today i was 279. I mean, I dnt know what i am doing wrong..I told my doc I can eat more than a saucer, he gave me a fill(i guess), but I still dnt have that feeling of being satisfied...the only difference I feel is when I eat certain foods like baked chicken, it is very hard for it to go down and I start having productive burps and the sliming starts. I have since moved to another city and my insurance doesnt kick in unitl june1st...i have an appt with another lapband doc here on the 2nd of june...maybe he can help me get on track...im just so upset and mad @ myself bc im not losing any weight. Is the intial weightloss supposed to be this slow? Maybe I shouldve gotten the gastric bypass. Anyone with any advice, plz help. Thanks:confused:

hi Steffi... you are not alone. I was banded in Sept/09 and lost 25lbs in the first 3 months but in the last 4 months i have only lost about 10lbs. I have 3 fills and still dont feel any restriction. My surgeon is being very conservative. He lets me go see him every 8 weeks...which seems like a lifetime since my body seems to just want to maintain its current weight. i am still 2/3 away from my initial GOAL.

Hopefully this new Dr will help you out and be more supportive. I have been told that everyone is different and weighloss comes easier to some that others.

WE just need to keep it up...and not give up on the Band.

Vic

This really makes me sad that your doctor doesn't seem to want to help you. I was self pay and my doctor is so hard on me and "demands" me to abuse him for the first year. I have to see him every month regardless if I need a fill or just to talk to him..he wants to see me. You would think since he can't bill my insurance he wouldn't even want to see me. I guess the only thing I can suggest or tell you what I have done...I have currently 5.25 ccs in a 10cc band (I had a total of 4 fills but we had to unfill when I hit 6ccs..it was too tight). When I was first banded 11/23/9 I followed the "diet" to a tee for the first month..then I told my doctor that this is not a diet this is a lifestyle change. I eat normal foods (I make the same meal for my entire family for dinner). I just eat much smaller portions, I eat the protien first and then nibble on what ever else might be served. I never drink a 1/2 prior or after any meal. I am not a breakfast person so I normal do drink a shake for breakfast. My snacks include Chobani Greek yogurt or SF pudding. I have lost 75 lbs to date and going strong. I walk for my excerise. I love my band!! Stay positive. I truly hope this new doctor is more helpful to you! I wish you the best!!

Hey Steff---I'm right here with ya. My surgery was 7 days after yours and I am only 39 pounds down (including pre-op). I slime all of the time and I know that if I have any fluid taken out then I really won't lose any weight. I lose like 1/2lb-1lb a week. I was hoping it would be more like the average 2 or 3 that I was told. I know that if I would just eat salad I would lose weight faster but I am only 23 and I am not willing to GIVE UP all unhealthy foods for the rest of my life. I'm just dealing with the pain of eating right now and I need to get back on track with excersizing. Good Luck and Best Wishes to you! <3

I was banded 6/09 down 39lbs, I was also a cash pay my doc is really good!! I also need to get in every month even if i don't get a fill! I am at a point know i have not lost anything in a month or so!! My band is filled at 6.9. I also eat what my family eats just alot smaller portion sizes and chew chew chew, that is the key!! Just need to stick with and be positive about things.
