im getting stuck on lean meats. i dont understand! im taking small bites and chewing really well and tho i have 2 ccs in a 10 cc band and not really any restriction, im getting my proteins stuck! how is this possible? i dont even know what to do anymore. lunch consisted of a tiny slice of ham. how am i supposed to get all the protein that i need? im not supposed to be consuming shakes anymore.

if theres one thing the band has done for me, its kill my appetite. i dont even feel like eating anymore. sure, food tastes good but its no longer enjoyable. i dont look forward to meals anymore.

*sigh* this is hard. anyone that says this is easy is wrong.

I wasn't allowed to start eating solid proteins for over a month post-op, it may just be too soon and you're body isn't ready? Dunno but it's a thought.

i guess thats possible but my surgeon wanted me on liquids for one week, mushies for one week and then starting solids. i guess i should stick with mushies for another week and see if it helps?

my Surgeon and nutricionist told me in my first 2 months post op iti s very important to take the protein in to heal in the healling process. The said that if for some reasoni could not take in enought solid protein to have a shake or somethink liquid high in protein ( i perfer cottage cheese) . I think protein shakes and bars are going to be a part of this new life cuz simetimes the band will not be willing to accept "normal food".

After the 3rd month post op i was noticing hairloss, so since theni have really focusing on protein intake and also taking Biotin... it has helped.

good luck

I think another reason they tell you "no shakes" is that they don't want you to only drink shakes, they want you to eat food to get your protein. However, they do realize that sometimes you might be tighter in the morning and you can only get a shake down and as the day progresses you can eat more. I agree with the above posts...you have to test foods..some bodies just take a while to accept certain foods and sometimes what you could eat today you can't eat tomorrow..it is just part of the journey. As Gorda said..protein shakes and bars..they will be part of your new life.
