I have so many questions? My biggest fear is that i am going to miss food. (thats crazy i know) Did any one have that same fear? What is it like to want pizza for dinner and not be able to have it?

what does it feel like to get full so fast and still have food on your plate that you want to eat?

I have so many more but these are the big ones for today!?!

eventually you will learn to make smaller portions for yourself. use smaller plates to begin with. It has taken me until now (almost 4 months) to quit having the thought "oh I want one more thought". I get the hiccups when I am full..then I do not eat any more. I know I will get some slashing for this but I have eaten pizza a couple of times..probably 3 slices total..(1 piece at 3 different servings) thin crust. Long story short but my husband and I recently purchased my parents house..but they didn't move out..so we all live together and my 7 yr old niece moved in also..we have a 2 yr old..so now we have 6 people in the family. We all eat the same meal. My parents are the ones addicted to pizza believe it or not. My niece and I say NO MORE PIZZA and here my mom comes home with more!! LOL. Your taste buds change...once you get banded you will see it is the best decision you will ever make!!!

I am 4 months away from having surgery "if the insurance approves 1st time" and I to have had the fear of missing food, but you know my doctor told me that with the lap band you want to continue on with your normal foods that you eat everyday. You just won't be able to eat as much. Spread it out over 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day and go from there. Pizza will be a no no, but treating yourself to 1 slice once in a blue moon will give you the satifaction you are wanting. I know that I have to make changes and sacrifice the joy of the good tasting food, but I am willing and prepared. I will continue with a normal diet "chicken, fish, vegies, etc." I started dieting and joined a gym a month ago I have managed to loose 4 lbs on my own in 1 month. Not much but atleast I am working towards a happy healthier me. It's going to take a lot to get into the mindset of Portions and snacking. Snacks are allowed, but only healthy nutritional snacks that limit you calorie intake. Don't fear the loss of food look at it as a step to a new life. Food is what got you to the place you are at, and will continue to hold you back unless you make the choice to move past the want for food..

I can tell you it is not going to be easy.. I have 3 small kids and a husband that love to eat!!!! I have had to suffer through dinners where everyone is enjoying a large plain pizza while i eat a cup of cottage cheese. Sounds unfair i know...BUT i also know that i have a choise. I could grab a slice and take small bits and chew and chew to make sure it went down... but for that plain ppizza it is not worth it.

For me the solution is that i serve myself in a salad plate, so that when i feel full i dont see a huge amount left over. Same goes for when i go out to eat, the minute the food arrives to the table i ask for a small plate, fill it up and ask for the rest to be bagged so i dont even have to look at it. Yeah, it is still hard to see the people around you eating their full meals but the Band is something i committed to so that i can loose the 100 lbs for ever.

It is amazing what you can give up. Befor ethe lapband i as addicted to Diet coke, i drank 2-4 cans a day as my caffeinne, i was so scared that i was going to have terrible craving and get myself in touble... but so fr it has been easy to stay away. I have not beem 100% perfect with my diet, bad habbits die hard. My weakness is till crunchy, salty food such as crackers, chips, pretzels.

It is ol to feel scared. it is ok to feel left out when others arond you stuff their faces...we are all human. Just remember that the BAND will change your life for the better.

Good luck
