Ok so it has been a week since my sciatica appeared and on Tues it will be a week since i have been on the anti-inflamatories (celebrex) and the Vicodin...wich i can only take after my husband gets home since it makes em loopy :lol:and i really cant stay awake. So i take Tylenol during the day.

I still have pain, i can not go more that 15 mins without feeling the pinch/shock go down my left leg. it is really fustrating because i want to get back to doing my workout at 6am but i get up very lame and i know i have a full day ahead of me with the kids.

To TOP it off...i have gained 3 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am still not feeing any restriction and i have 5 more weeks before my next fill.

i am bumming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had sciatica problems too! I was trying to lift my dad when he fell out of his recliner. He was battling cancer and since has passed on to our Heavenly Father. I hurt myself in June. Try not to take too many Rx's for pain. It can be addictive! My doctor said it was ok to take up to 800 mgs of motrin a couple of times a day when it was at it's worst. The motrin really helped a lot but massage therapy got to the "root" of the problem. There is a fine muscle called the periformis that can get tight and squeeze the sciatic nerve. My pain was so servere that it radiated from the back of my tailbone to the back of both thighs down to my knees....pain worse than labor! The massage therapist also suggested stretches.....go on youtube for demos on sciatica streteches. The GENTLE stretching is very helpful. I went for massage once a week in the beginning if I could afford it. Then once every two weeks to now I haven't needed it since the end of December. Actually, it stopped a month before Dec. but I slipped running into my portable at school and the next morning I felt the pain starting back. I took 600mg of motrin, sceduled a massage, and started back with the stretches and so far, fingers crossed, it's gone. Walking also helps. Be careful not to go overboard...go slow and be consistant. Sometimes if I did too many stretches (it felt so good) the next morning the area felt irritated. Hope this helps and good luck!

I use alleve for my sciatia and ice. My doc actually sent me to physical therapy for it and I only struggle with it now if I have been on the motorcycle for hours. Sorry you gained weight. I know the feeling of working hard to get it off and then poof there it is again. Just don't give up. You are worth fighting the frustrations your feeling. Hold on to that feeling of victory and you will see it again.
