First fill today....was it too much?

Okay, so I am about four weeks out from the surgery and doing well. I have lost 35 lbs...YAY! For the last week or so, I had lost that post-op "full" feeling and was able to eat almost anything. I wasn't eating nearly as much as I would have before the surgery but I don't think it was the band that was keeping me from overeating but more my paranoia of getting stuck and/or throwing up. Needless to say, it was time for a fill.

So, at the doc's office, lie down, tighten abdomen, fluid in, no biggie. Although, I will say that I could FEEL the fluid going in which was a little weird. I told the nurse that I could already feel a difference. She asked me how it felt but I couldn't really put a word to it. She looked at me like I might be a little crazy but I'm okay with that  Stuck around the office and drank the obligatory two cups of water. Even after the water, I was feeling full. I attributed it to my having eaten a salad about an hour before my appointment.

So, although I wasn't hungry, I just had "dinner" that consisted of about 1/3 cup of broth and I don't think I could have another drop. Feeling REALLY reflux-y. I don't want or need to vomit but I guess I thought I would be able to get more down.

So, being new to this, I have to ask, is this normal? Is it that it is my first fill and the feeling subsides in a couple days or is this the sign of an overfill? I know everyone responds differently to the LB but any insight would be appreciated.

Oh, and BTW, don't make fun of me but I have to ask.....what are PBing and sliming? I have read those words on many posts and I have no idea what they are talking about! Sliming sounds like something that happens in a show on Nickelodeon :) I am soooo not familiar with the jargon yet!

First...it will take a few days for things to settle down and know where you are in terms of restriction. Even just getting a fill can cause a little swelling that will make you feel more restricted than you are.

Second sliming is where you are going to throw up or you need to and the body nows it bur all that comes up is this awful clear mucous (slime) that doesnt even want t break off from your lip to the toilet...its pretty gross but the body makes that slime to help you get something up easily that cant stay. Usually after the slime I will vomit the last bite of whatever caused the trouble and feel much better.

I have never been a pb'er but it stands for productive (think vomit) burp. I guess its kind of a loud burp with vomit!

Sounds hideous but both are nature and the band's way of telling you you have been bad. Either too much food or too little chewing!

Good luck...you'll do great!

PS: If you havent been reading band-groupie's blog you should be...it went public recently and even now, I sometimes read back through her long journey just to get back on track with myself! It will probably answer questions you dont even know you have and you'll laugh yourself to tears while reading it!! Join us all there!
