I’ve decided that the band is the right thing for me in my life right now. I thought I could do the weight loss by myself, and I did, for 2 years but I gained it all back. I’m tired of the struggle, the ups and downs. I want to do things in my life and my weight is starting to get in the way. I want it gone forever and not have to worry if it’s going to come back with vengeance. January 20th @ 7:00 is my registered meeting at Dr. Feteiha’s office. I trust Dr. Feteiha because he has done surgery for me in the past and many of my family members.

Unfortunately I am not gaining much support from my family in this department. They think it’s easy to just lose weight by eating right and exercise. I guess for 25 years they have been ignoring the results of my efforts and I have no choice but to press forward without their good graces. Afterall this is for me, not them!

So here is to a slow start and many months ahead, I hope to track my progress in here and pictures when things get rolling.

Good for you! It is about you. I had support from only one close friend and my mom and dad. No one else in my family or friends wanted me to have it done. They said why don't you just stop eating or just stay on the liver shrinking diet until you get the weight off. They obviously were not thinking it all the way through because us dieters know that as soon as you go back to "normal eating" all that weight comes right back. Fad diets do not work. I truly believe alot of mine problem is from hormonal issues and genetics. I eat decent and work out 3-4 hours a day. I have had 5+ doctors tell me I should not have a weight issue. Well I know that and I am tired of having a weight issue so I chose to go forward with it. I am going to beat this and so are you!!!!

Good luck to you and keep us posted~

Yea part of mine is hormonal too. I've been living with PCOS since i was 16. One thing I don't think our families realize is, if the the weight is out of the way most of the time so is the illness that we deal with on a day to day basis. When I did lose the weight my complications from PCOS literally went away. That's a big thing for me. When I am ready to have children I want to be able to have them, not have to diet until my period comes back and then hope for the best. I feel like I have a fat invisible suit on right now.
