So I had my surgery Monday December 21st. I was told by my doctor to not eat anything besides broth water and jello for one week. Last night got the best of me and 2 days early I ate... I immediately felt the food not feel right and had to cough some up. I am extremely disappointed in myself  and I am scrared! I feel absolutley fine now but im feeling a little sharp discomfort where I know the band is. My next Dr. appointment isn't until Wednesday... so I have a few questions.. concerns if anyone can help me with..

1- Is this like really really bad and should I go to the emergency room??

2- Should I be honest with my doctor and just tell him what I did?

if anyone can give me some advise on this that would be helpful b/c aside from feeling phyisically healthy I am scraed I really messed things up...

tell your doctor..something is probably still stuck because it wasn't chewed enough... but it will go through.. go back to liquids and broth until it goes away. Nothing to go to ER unless it's like a HUGE unchewed wad of food like red meat or something. If you want to feel 100% better you could go to the ER and ask them to do a barrium xray on you to make sure everything is fine.

I just had my surgery in Sept (3 months ago). I would guess that you just made the area a little sore. As long as you can gt liquids down and have no bleeding, I'd just wait and tell the Dr, on Wed. I sometimes get an irritated feeling when I forget to chew enough and the uncomfortable feeling goes away by the next day.

Hang in there!! This too will pass...

thank you so much for the advise. i woke up today and that weird feeling in my stomach went away. I am heading to the doctor NOW to get more optifast b/c I don't want this to happen again..

Not gonna lie though I didn't get to this point by having food self control ya know.. I think its really hard to tell someone who used to eat whatever they want whenever they want that they have to drink liquids for 2 weeks.. i mean come on now!
