Hi new friends. I am having my surgery in 2 weeks and am nervous. It will be on Christmas Eve--the best gift I have ever given myself. What can I expect is it bad??

Help!! :crying: Words of encouragement, support, anything...help a girl from NY out!

Thanks!

:tongue2:

Hey girl its going to be ok I just had my surgery on Dec 8th and I was also very nervous but it's over so fast you just forget about it. The pain is not bad at all and like people say its day by day. I feel a little better every day. At first I kept telling myself what have i done but I think I have made the right choose. Plus this site is great everyone here is a great support. Keep us posted and good luck

Hello, I'm happy for you that you will have the band soon. don't be nervous Its normal to have second thoughts at this stage.from a personal experience it was the best thing I've done for me.Let me sum it up for you I was diabetic with high BP and cholesterol and was taking medication for all three and now.. zero medication I have my life back and I'm in control.

Good luck and i hope all goes well for you.

Congrats!!! Yes, best decision ever! Of course i have only been banded for 3 weeks and 3 days so i don't have a lot to tell you. However, i can tell you that you MUST follow your doc's orders. Also, when you arrive home from the hospital, start walking!!!! It will help with the gas! That was not so fun but.....worth it! I have lost 17 pounds! Almost a pound a day. Best of all i have lost the desire to chow down on sweets!!! Best of luck to you!

I just wanted to say good luck. My surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow. I am also very nervous, but I feel that I am making a good decision. If I don't do this now I may not be around as long as I want to be for my kids. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations. It's normal to feel what you are feeling. It's not as bad as you might think. Just be sure to follow the plan that your doctor gives you and everything will go smoothly. You might want to get yourself some GasX strips to help with the gas pains. Make sure you walk as much as you can to help the trapped gas out of your system.

I have been banded for almost 2 months now and am feeling awesome, so YES this is the best gift that you could have given to yourself. You will be amazed. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. It does help to know that I am not alone. I feel alone since I am keeping this hidden from almost everyone in my life. Good luck to you who are having surgery in December and best of luck to those who are just had it. Merry Merry!

Hi, All-

My surgery went well and I feel great! I have only lost 21lbs pre and post surgery and I haven't lost any more weight since my intial loss post surgery. It's been 2 weeks.

Has anyone else had this happen to them. Maybe my body is in starvation mode. I am following doctors orders and eating what's on the list. Help! Anyone!! Please!!
