Food Confused

I am still not really sure if I am eating what I should be eating after Monday's procedure. My list says "full liquids" and includes oatmeal, grits and cream of wheat. Both hot cereals are what I would consider mushies. I asked the bariatric coodinator about it and she said "we don't really do a mushy stage because anything can be made mushy if you chew it long enough". I took that to mean that I could do mushies starting today. But, I'm still not sure.

Today I had: an Herbalife Shake, 1/2 c thick cream soup (baked potato flavor) with a few bits that I chewed the crap out of, and for dinner, some homemade mashed turnips which I made too thin to eat with a fork.

Now I am worried about those turnips. I feel fine but what if they are too gassy and make my stomach do weird things?

Yikes!

I am also having trouble getting enough water.

Tips? Advice?

I am hungry.. I am having a clear protein drink and a yogurt. I would wait personally for the mushies like grits, oatmeal and such until u are confident that it is not going to bug you.. They have me on liquids clear and not clear for 3-4 weeks then i get to conquer the mushies.. I would just go with what u feel ur body wants... I would be to scared to go to mushies this early but that is me.. I dont want to hurt.. LOL Hope all is well my friend..

My doc also got rid of the mushie stage...somewhere between when I started and when I was banded (he said that's the new thinking, so I think it will be more common). He had me on clear liquids and milk for 3 weeks and then I was allowed to gradually add food back. The gas isn't an issue with the turnips (your pouch has 2 exits for gas, and my doc allows carbonation even). The real thing you need to watch when adding food for the first six weeks (besides the chew, chew, chew) is the amounts...you don't want to pull any stitches while they're still healing. As long as you take small amounts, you'll do fine. Trust me, your band will let you know. -BG

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.

      Einarmige Banditen
