I have a question for all the post band surgery people. I am wondering if the emotional attachment to food goes away? I have been keeping a food diary and trying to watch my portions but I eat when I am not hungry a LOT! How will I ever keep myself from eating for the sake of bordem? HELP! :)

That is the million-dollar question, isn't it? If it's truly boredom, then try to distract yourself with things that aren't boring. However, most food issues go deeper than that. I am still waiting on the answer to your question and the closest I have gotten is that you have to figure out why you really overeat and make peace with whatever that reason is.

Find a hobbie...yeah right! I am a stay at home mom of 3 small kids and i also used to find myself eating out of boredem....the same routine everyday just meant eating here and there and then wondering Why am i 100 lbs overweight?

I dont have the solution, but i am trying hard to stay away from food that are easily accessable (chips, snack mix, crackers).

GOOD LUCK!

I have been banded five months, It is just habit. We have to modify our habits, and that is a hard thing to do. The band does help! I have not heard my stomach growl for food but two or three times in five months. When I was bored, I would stand in front of the fridge and look for something to eat, I don't do that anymore! It (band) takes the edge off hunger, and I workout more now, takes the place of eating. You will alway have "Head Hunger" and will learn how to deal with it! Promise. Good luck!

"Head Hunger" that's it! It has helped that I am drinking a lot more water. Now as the anticipation for a surgery date is increasing I seem to be having an easier time staying away from some of my food demons! Thanks Ladies for the chat!
