Hello all. I am scheduled to have my surgery on 12/9. Dr. Patching is my doctor. He has been really great so far and I don't expect it to change. I am nervous about the pre op diet. What do you eat to have 1000 cal a day? Any suggestions? Is there anyone in Sacramento out there? Let me know how you are doing...:mad2:

Hi my name is Nikki, Im scheduled for my surgery next month also. For my pre-op diet I was told to get Slim Fast Low Cal and drink 2 for breakfast, 1 for lunch and 2 for dinner which is my 1,000 calories also drink plenty of water and you may add crystal lite if you like. And for a snack in between sugar free popcicles. Congrads on your wonderful journey.

Best of luck to you both on your upcoming surgeries....the reason for the pre-op diet I was told, was to get your liver out of the way of the band during surgery...it also gives the doctor a chance to see how you will do following a specific diet, since this band journey is a life style change, and requires changes to be made in the way we eat.

I am just about 4 weeks post op...and I am down 29 lbs on this journey. This is the chance of a lifetime for us all - a chance to gain back the body which we all deserve! Good luck!

Hi, Pam! Liquid Diets can be an great option to shrink your liver for the surgery but its not the only way to do the pre op diet. www.sparkpeople.com is a great free tool to a diet plan to stay within 1000 calories, and journal your nutrition. I love Spark People myself! You can set yourself other kinds of goals, too! Great motivational too. I'm looking forward to upgrading my phone where I can access Spark people from my phone and journal my food choices.

I had a blog at blogger if you would like to read it. Its at www.kickinfatsazz.blogspot.com Im just a beginner blogger myself, but feel free to add any comments.

When is your band date?
