Hi,

The operation day came around pretty quick, l had to be at the hospital by 10:30 am on Friday 6th Nov for admission.

l had my last Optifast drink at 7:00 am in the morning, then l carried out a few jobs around the house, because l knew l would not be doing them for some time, being sore.

My DW drove me to the hospital, we did all the paper work, then went to the Pre Operation room where l changed into my lovely butt bearing gown. Then they fitted my legs with some TED socks & air pressure

type bandages for the Blood circulation, so I wouldn't get D.V.T. Then l played the waiting game, finally the surgeon & the Anth. stuck their head in to check up on me. l was going to be the second person for that afternnoon. Waited some more, finally they wheeled me away at 2:00 pm. They took me to the Operating room and l went to sleep. l can remember being wake around 4 pm.

l was very sleepy for the next 5 hours in & out. About 10:00 pm l had a little water and walked to the toilet in my room.

At 11:00 pm, l went to sleep and awoke about 5:30 am the next day. Surprisingly, l had no major pain in the stomach or shoulder. l got disconnected from my machines, went to the toilet and had a some apple juice. Later on l had breakfast; coffee, jelly & juice - they all went down well.

About 11:00 am l went for a good walk around the hospital. 12 noon l had lunch- Chocolate milkshake and some more juice. After that the surgeon came and saw me, all was good and said that l could go home. l got home Around 3 pm and rested for the rest of the day while watching TV.

Saturday night l slept well.

Sunday l went for a little walk around the block, rested and took my liquids. In the afternoon, l started to feel some shoulder pain but it was not that bad, later in the day my upper arms got very sore, I ended up taking some pain tablets for that half way through the night so that I could sleep.

Monday & Tuesday l took it easy. The weather has been much hotter than normal for this time of the year. l'm drinking mainly Juices, coffee, milk shake & some soups.

Sometimes, l feel that l'm drinking too much and get full and will not have any thing more for a least 4 hours and the fullnesss feeling passes.

I weighed myself today - I'm 3.5 kg/7.7lbs down from the morning of the surgery. l think that that is a lot, however I am not feeling hungry.

I'm sleeping on my sides at night with no pain, which is good as I thought that may be an issue.

Thats all for this week..... Hope you enjoyed the read.

Take care and look after yourselves.
