Ok so here I am 4 weeks out and in 2 weeks will get my first fill....THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING:huh2: I had seen in many blogs that most bansters had to be liquids for a day....then mushies for a few days, then return to regular food. IS THIS TRUE????

I got on the horn to call my dr'c office to change my appointment, because there was NO WAY IN HELL I was gonna be sippin' on a protein shake on Thanksgiving, regarless if its turkey flavor or not (ewww....i know)

SOOOO my doc's office said that that was a big misconception with fills.....and NO i did not have to be on liquids the first day after a fill......WHAT????? thats all i have been hearing on here and now they said NO I dont???

I;m just looking for a few opinions of AFTER THE FIRST FILL......I certainly dont wanna be drinking my turkey in a few weeks!! HELP!!!

The "liquids for one or two days, mushies for one or two days, and add in regular foods after that" is my doctor's recommendation. I kind of thought that was pretty standard, but I guess it's not the way your doctor does it.

I just want to be really extra careful after a fill and kind of test the waters, take it slow, and make dang sure I'm not going to get a big surprise out of the blue and get something stuck. That would definitely be a damper on your Thanksgiving Day!

Mine says liquids the rest of the day and ease in to food the next day. After my first fill I didn't feel any difference at all. Just chew very well and be careful.

My first fill is scheduled the day before yours. We have decided to have everyone over for an early Thanksgiving that Saturday. I don't want to take chances with not feeling well or whatever while trying to cook. Good luck. I'm right there with you.

I have 2 days of full liquids then ease back to food. You're not likely to get good restriction with the first fill, but that all depends on how aggressive your doc is with fills and your anatomy (some never even need a fill and have restriction). I'd just know you have a chance of only being able to eat a little, but then again, that will be your future Thanksgivings anyway...and yes, I can still eat everything at Thanksgiving...just a tiny bit of each ;-)

I too was told that it would be liquids the day of the fill and then back to solids the next day. I have noticed that depending on where you live the Lap Band procedure is very very different. Starting with the pre surgery diet, surgery ( I didn't have a stay in the hospital, all done on a out patient basis), the liquid phase and mushie phase... everyone is told something different. I spoke to two surgeons at the same facility and they didn't have the same diets.... go figure.
