June 8, 2009. Thats the day I had surgery. It went pretty good. My pre-surgery weight was 325, 3 fills and 1 unfill later, I am done to 275. I am so very excited about that. Its been a long time since have been under 300lbs. I guess the reason I decided to start blogging was because I am starting to feel things that my friends and family cant understand. I am tired of hearing "eat if you want to eat", well it doesnt quite work that way. I will admit that I am not perfect, I do have the one thing that I couldnt live without....ice cream, but I do make better choices about it. Sometimes eating is so uncomfortable that I dont want to do it. Yes I know thats bad.....

I am interested in know how other people deal with the ups and downs of post surgery. I think I am starting to have gallbladder problems, thats what all the signs are pointing to. My hair...oh thats another story. Honestly tho, with all of that said, I would do it again in a heart beat. Its one of the best decisions Ive made.....

WOW you are doing GREAT!! I hope my sucess is as good. this is why i'm choosing not to tell my family. i'm from the south and everything is food related. i have only shared my choice with very few people that i know will be supportive. I think ice cream will be hard for me too. Had my gllbladder out a few years ago. Easy surg., not bad at all.

Good luck

Are you still taking your proteins... I had my surgery last Monday (10/19/09) and I was told by my dietitian that after the surgery, I will need at least 50 to 60 grams of protein a day, otherwise I will have problems with my gallbladder, weak muscles and experiencing hair loss. I am using Ysopure with skim milk plus. I sip on it throughout the day... It tastes pretty good.

Hi All,

I am a first timer myself. I have recently begun to consider lap band because I am at my wits end with my weight. I, too, am in the south and totaly understand how everything is centered around food. I have chosen to keep my surgery private as well. I am in the first phases and was wondering can anyone give me an approximate time frame before actually having surgery, considering nutrition consult, psych consult, ins approval, etc.

Hi, thanks for all the comments. Yes to the protein, of course some days are better than others. I actually just came from the surgeon, where I saw my PA, and I told him if I wanted to see him this much I would just call him and we could hang out......He doesnt think its my gallbladder. I have a scope test scheduled for next week, he said best case scenario is that its an ulcer (which Ive had in the past, and since surgery lemonade light has become my best friend) or worst case is its eroded into my stomach. That means it needs to come out. That bums me out, I have worked soooo hard over the last 5 months. Lets keep our fingers crossed......
