 Hi Everyone,

On Friday it will be three weeks since I had my surgery. I read here from other people that they have lost 27 pounds in three weeks and that makes me feel that I am not doing something right. I only eat 3 time a day as my doctor told me to do and I have been walking at least an hour daily. I started at 165 and now I am at 149. What is the range to be in at 3 weeks post-op?

I will have my first fill in about 10 days, for now I don't feel any restriction at all but I do watch my portions very carefully Except once or twice cheating event that I still regret.

Thanks

Hi, in my case i lost 15 lbs in the first 3 weeks and then i got stuck with the same weight for another 3 weeks almost when i have to get my first fill.

About the 20's to 30's lbs that many people refer it is counting the pre op diet i lost another 16 in my pre op diet, but not everybody counts that.

My Doc told me usually people even gain a few lbs beteween the 3rd and 6th weeks that's called "hellbandster" between us, hopefully the fill is coming and that's another history.

Good Luck you are doing it fine, just be patience.

Thank you both for your support. No one said it was going to be easy, i know but so frustrating when I feel starved most of the time but i feel much better physically due to all the walking i have been doing.

You have to realize the bigger you are when you start out, the quicker the weight will come off when you start. That is why on the Biggest loser and shows like that they do a percentage of weight loss not pounds. You started at a weight that most people have as their goal unless 165 is a misprint. The rest of us start at 250, 350, 450. I remember reading that some one had lost 80 pounds in the same time I had lost forty and I was thinking what in the world have I been doing wrong. As it turns out, I started at 258 and that person I believe was more than 100 pounds more than me. It comes off in percentages thats what you need to look at. Also keep track of inches. That will help keep you motivated too. I didnt lose weight for about 7 weeks but had lost several inches. Good luck.

Hi hopefulmechelle,

Thanks for your reply. I am very short and am a diabetic too, a bit over borderline ,not too bad so 165 for my height was way too much. I will start checking those inches, thanks for suggesting that's a great idea.

I was--am the sme way. at my post op I lost 17lbs, but now I'm 2months out and I think the same way you do. But I have to remember that everyone is different. Just remember that everyone is different.

Hi - Slow is good. It keeps your metabolic rate level and the weight will continue to come off when you have only a small amount to lose. My friend and I were banded within 3 weeks of each other - Dec 2007 and Jan 2008, she was always ahead of me but her weight fluctuated much more, but now we are down to near target weight I am 148 and she is still 158 and yo yo ing - we go to a support group and the dietician explained why this yo yoing is not good. Sally feels she is not losing enough so will be very strict - but then she can't keep it up so will cheat a bit whereas I have never denied myself anything and of course am naughty on occasion but the weight is dropping oh so slowly now but in the 20 months - my weight has not gone up once, and the loss is probably less thank 1lb a month now - I still have 8-10lb to go but as I feel so good now and look slim - I don't care how long it takes. Sally has been told that she needs to stop trying to lose any more and to maintain her current weight for at least 4 months to get her metabolism straight and then to reduce her calorie intake by only a 100 a day so she doesn't go back into "starvation mode". A quick fix is what we all look for initially but be comforted that many banders who reach their target weights were slow but steady losers. Hope this helps. Carry on the good work
