starting my WLS journey
What I found out today:
Bariatrics of Texas in Wichita Falls
(2 hour drive, but better than traffic in Ft. Worth @ 1.5 hours!)
Has group meetings in Abilene on Mondays in Wichita Falls on Saturdays...(next one in Abilene is Oct 5 and WF Oct 10)
Dr. Kenneth M.R. Warnock
25+ years in Bariatric Surgery
He is in the TOP 5% of U.S. Bariatric Surgeons and his clinic is a Bariatrics Center of Excellence which is approved with Tricare!!! He's done lots of military spouses from as far away as AK and Germany, too.
He does both LAP-BAND® AND open Rou-en-Y procedures - over 3000 of them, total...
Had my labs done today and have my annual physical will be done on Monday. Lab results should be in by then. I'll ask for a referral to Dr. Warnock at that time. Already requested a pamphlet to be mailed to me and printed out a 7 page questionaire to fill out and take with me to my first group meeting...
So, don't know if WLS is right for me, but only one way to find out and that's to go forward! I first thought about this 13+ years ago - when Hubby was first stationed in Norfolk in 1996. I turn 40 in December and am beginning to realize that I can't lose 100+ pounds on my own!
