Hi, I am new to this forum....I was banded two years ago (July 2007) and have lost 40 lbs. with 25 more to go....My concern is that I am not eating healthy at all....during the day I am able to eat very little- maybe a small piece of cheese or a few crakers or quarter cup of yogurt, maybe, some times I throw that up out of discomfort- NO fruits or veges....then by evening, about 8 it is like my port-hole in my stoach opens and I can eat- not always but half the time anyway. So finally being able to eat anything I do....sometimes in a good quanitiy. Seems the later in the evening, the more I can eat- does this happen with anyone? But most of the other time when I cannot eat I grab something sugary which goes down VERY easily! I feel stuck...help.:)

I do not have this issue and haven't heard this one before.

You've spoken to your doctor about this right? What did he/she say about it?

Could you need a small unfill?

Food choices:

Try to keep smart foods handy for that "grab and go" that you need. (deli roll; meat w/cheese together, almonds, nuts, jello, yogurt, cheese...)

To get the fruits and veggies maybe have smoothies.

Maybe do muchie foods during the day. (rice & chicken, stews w/veggies...)

When you do open up and can eat, just make good choices.

Are you keeping a food dairy? (I use myfitnesspal.com and they've made it so easy) What is your calorie intake? (I try 1200 a day, some times I make it and sometimes I don't) How often do you eat during the day? (I eat 4-6 times a day) Are you getting enough liquid down too? (I've stopped sodas and have picked up those flavor packets to use in each bottle, easy to change flavors and not feel stuck)

I've lost 40#'s, it's been a slow 3 years but I've done it. I have 40 more to go to get to my goal. But my mini goals of 10#'s give me joy and momentum to go to the next 10.

If you haven't asked your doctor yet, give him/her a call on Monday. Keep us updated on how things go.

I have the same problem. However, I didn't have it until after my second fill. Before the fill, everything was great! I mentioned it to the doctor, but he didn't seem concern. Checked the flow of food by giving me some kind of liquid, and found no problems. Anyway, now, for some reason, when I get up in the morning, I can't eat or drink that much. I can't even eat a whole scramble egg or 6 oz of yogurt. I can eat food that I don't need like sweets, cheetos, chips. So what I started doing was forcing myself to drink a protein drink first thing in the morning. At first, it was also difficult. Now, I don't have a problem. Unjury brand is very good. You can also buy these on line. I don't eat much at lunch either; sometimes, I do another protein drink (to make sure I get the maximum amount of proteins). Like you, I can eat much more at dinner, and probably eat too much! I had the surgery in Dec 07. I've had 2 fills. I have already reached my goal. I started at 232 amd am now at 145. My goal was 150. My doctor wants me to lose more because I'm only 4 11, but I have lots of excess skin, weighing probably 10 lbs or more.

OMG!!! finally someone who can relate to me... I was banded last Sept. and yet only have lost about 35 lbs.. its been a year and I have had like 10 fills.. one time they filled me too much and I had to go back to get and unfill.. I lost 5 lbs in 2 days because of that.. which was GREAT!! but I couldt even drink water.. and I was MISERABLE and in PAIN!! but we are both in the same situation because I CANT eat meat or even veggies.. so of course I turn to food that I can eat, which like u say.. cheetos and ice cream and all the other bad food just to have something in my stomache..It is very frustrating when u dont lose weight.. sometimes I feel like this surgery was all for nothing.. my main problem is FOOD.. I luv food too much..:( if u ever need to talk just hit me up.. because i definitely can relate to u...

Same problem here. I feel like an empty pit in the evening. I also use myfitnesspal.com I love to see the calorie count and my protein count. I just learned from my doc that he would love to see about 70 grams of protein a day! I was flabergasted! But it keeps you full longer. Good luck!!!!!
