I am not happy with my weight loss. Its been almost a year and only 20lbs down. The nutritionist and dr said I'm doing everything right. Now they are looking at gastric by-pass. This does not scare me.

Depression is getting to me. I try to exercise whenever I feel this way. Any advice is better than no advice at all. :):tongue_smilie:

I understand. I had the lap band approximately 2 years ago the weight lost can be very slow compared to gastric bypass. One thing I do know is that you must get your adjustment particularly if your having a problem with portion control. Also you must get some excercise to assist with the weight lost.

I'm a bit depressed also because I found out on my last visit I could not be adjusted because my lap band was dilated therefore they deflated my band. Therefore I'm wide open and can eat! I gained 13 pounds. On my next visit my doctor is going to discuss repairing the lap band or gastric bypass. I'm a bit concerned about the bypass it seem so drastic they way they re-route your insides and the lack of nutrition obtain from the food that you take in. However the a couple of the girls at work did the gastric bypass and they lost weight quick and look great. On the other hand a supervisor on my job and another co-worker regained the weight with the gastric bypass and one of them went back to surgery and got the lab band and is now losing weight. Confusing I know. However I will say that the gastric bypass is known for losing a lot of weight quickly. I don't know if I've helped much just thought I would share my experience and knowledge.

I have a question I think I would ask my surgeon and nutritionist if your situation was mine...

"OK>>> you're saying I'm doing everything right?

"If that's the case>>> why aren't I losing more weight?

Frankly it sounds a little fishy. If you're doing everything "right" I would think you'd be losing much more weight. Another "frankly"; the docs' saying everythings "right" and now they're pushing by-pass??? I wonder if you've had proper support from their practice OR if they're really in the market to do another $$$ procedure.

Maybe a second opinion is something you might want to consider.

I'm bored, bored, bored. I haven't felt well all day so exercise was the last thing on my mind. I've got to stick w/ it.
