How can you be sure if you have the "sweet spot"

:confused:I have been banded for three months. I am down 46 pounds (pre-op diet plus after surgery loss) I have said before, I go three to six weeks without losing a pound then in one week I will lose about 7-8 pounds. The thing that bothers me is it seems to happen only when I have a fill. I have 6 cc's in my band. I have lost a few pounds since my last fill but not consistenly each week (which i guess my body is gonna refuse to do anyway) Here is my delima, what do I do the next time I am due for a fill? I dont want to be too tight and make myself sick but here is what I am doing now. Some times I can eat any thing at all and it not seem to bother me, other times (and no it is not only in the am like i have heard people say) I seem to get everything I eat stuck and it is crazy. A fellow lapbander friend of mine said i may have a small piece of food stuck and therefore restricting me at times. So how do I know if i am at the sweet spot and how do i know if I do or do not need a fill? I know the big thing is consistant weight loss and that aint happening. I am taking in protien every day, walking 1-2 miles almost every day and truely sticking to what I am supposed to do 95% of the time. Any feedback out there?

If one thing is a recurring theme about the band is that .... everyone is has a different story. I am at my sweet spot. I can eat about a cup of food, sometimes less, then be full between meals. I have 5.9cc's in my band and was stuck just once. The crazy thing about getting stuck for the first time is you don't know if you are stuck or if you are overfilled. I thought I was overfilled because I had just had a fill.

It sounds like you are doing good. Maybe try adding a new exercise each week to freak out your body a bit.

I wish you joy!

Thanks for the feedback. I dont want to get so "filled" that I throw up and cant keep anything down like I hear of so many doing but honestly, I am able to eat just about as much (amount wise) as I could before. I am just determined to do it this time. I was private pay which was another incintive. It seems so wierd that some people are at the sweet spot at 6 cc's and other now till 10 cc's with the same band. Does that mean I am just a hugry cow or what? lol

Nope...everyones stoma tissue is a different size. Some docs spend the time to cut away all the fat around where they place the band, and some leave it and it disappears with weight loss. How 'tight' you like to be is also a big variable. Some like to only be drinking their protein and some like it looser so there is no food they can't eat. It's not that the band is whacky, it's just that there are so many variables. The basic question for me for a fill is...can I eat about a cup of food and NOT be hungry until my next meal...if the answer is no, then I need a fill. I'm finding that even the vomiting is a variable...many times it's just 'operator error' and not the band being too tight. If you're hungry between meals you need a fill. Good luck! -BG

Thanks alot. I hate when I get on here to beg for an answer from more "seasoned" banders and get NO response. That help alot. Thanks bunches and God bless.
