One more month to go,,, I'm almost done with what my insurance required of me and I'm finding that I'm second guessing my decision to have the surgery. I hear of so many success stories, but it's the stories you hear about where someone has lost only 9 pounds in 5 months, or that they get sick very easily that get me worried.

SO,,, today I found this website and I'm looking forward to being able to hear more good stories to put my mind back at ease.

2 months and counting:thumbup:

Wow this is my first ever blog entry. I just had my surgery on 7/13. I remember that long wait while doing all I had to do for surgery. I researched and studied for a year before I decided to do this. then, 6 months before I could do it? Oh no!!! But I made it through. I went back and forth also but hey I am pleased I did it with 20 lbs closer to my goal than I was 2 months ago. I have to believe that the people who are not succeeding are not following the dr's rules. I want to do it to the letter. Some day I am going to go rock climbing in Maine.

I felt the same way, my surgery was 3 1/2 weeks ago. I thought about seriously cancelling all the time. I went for all the preop testing and still wanted to cancel up until the day of surgery. When they were wheeling me in the opperating room I was given the goodnight drug and for the 5 seconds I was awake I was still 2nd guessing. I think its only because everyone you tell about the surgery makes you question yourself. Well let me tell you I've lost 19 lbs and if I didn't have the surgery I would have gone off this diet on week 1 and eaten an entire pizza.

When the surgery was over and they were wheeling me to my room I was like its over? That's it? I feel like I spent 7 months worrying for nothing. The first 2 weeks of liquids was a little rough but now I'm on pureed food and it's filling me fine with the protein drinks. I am so happy I did it. I think about food so much less now. I am going for my first fill a week from monday and I'm sure that will be a change because I still feel like I could eat and have no restriction so I kinda feel like I'm having last supper's again like the weeks before surgery but they are smaller meals. I am happy and have had no pain even the day of surgery I took no pain meds just the nausea meds in the hospital. I had no appetite for about 4 days and about day 5 felt starving and started having cream soups (my husband is a chef and made me amazing soups) if you can find a really good restaurant and get some gourmet soups even chicken broth from a restaurant makes all the difference. I had store bought for about a day, I got sick of it pretty quick. Panera Bread should have some good soups for you and if they are chunky puree them.

SO glad to hear a couple of good stories! I must say, CHEFLA mentioned the puree food,,, SO not looking forward to that, lol,,,, does puree steak possibly look like a chocolate shake??? LOL

I use to be worried about the surgery itself,,, besides my c-section, I've never had surgery that I was put to sleep for,,, sorta freaked out about that part,,,, but lately, I'm more worried about going through all the trouble and still having to fight with myself to eat the right things. I mean, I know it's going to still be hard,,, but to hear that some people are miserable because they are hungry all day long is a bit of a bummer. The whole lap band tool is intended to help you feel full and not feel hungry,,, so I thought. It's amazing how many little things you have to do afterwards. I met with the dietition last month and the dime size bites and chewing 30 times to get it at applesauce consistency is hard! I've been practicing that and not having anything to drink while eating or for the hour that follows,,, that one is really hard.

If you are trying to stay close to the doctor's orders as how and what to eat,,, is it hard for you getting the amount of protien in each day? She told me how you can get malnutritioned,,, and of course, that worries me! I was told to try and stay clear of protien shakes,,, so many little things,,,definately not the easy way out!

Thanks a lot for yall's thoughts.
