i have been depressed and having panic attacks since my surgery. i'v been doing alot better, but still some what depressed. my regular Dr. (knows nothing about lap-band) gave my zoloft but i'm afraid to take it about 6 years ago i was on it and i gained wieght and now the more i read on here it seems like so many people have trouble keeping off the weight or staying at a base weight, so i'm a little afriad but also tired of not feeling like my self.

thank you in advance. pris.

Ive been on anti-depressents on and off since college. I started taking them again approx 2 months ago because I couldn't function. If you think you really need it, try it and see if you gain, lose or stay the same. It won't hurt to try, but if you don't then you dont know if you may feel better with the meds. If your feeling that depressed or anxious its not going to help the process and the ability to get moving and excercising!

I know what you mean about not feeling like yourself...losing this much weight does that to your head. But the biggest blessing of it all is that WE get to reinvent ourselves and our body!!! WE get to become a new person, physically, mentally and emotionally!!

TO MSCOOK, ANK YOU SO MUCH. I JUST HATE THE FEELING OF NEEDING SOMETHING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO DO IT ON MY OWN. DID YOU GAIN WEIGHT WITH THEM. I THINK THERE ARE SOME THAT DON'T HAVE THAT SIDE AFFECT. CAN I ASK WHAT YOUR TAKING, IF THATS TO PERSSONAL THATS OK, AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH AND GOD BLESS.

I have taken antiderpressants for years. Every time I try to get off of them, it gets so bad I cant even stand myself. In just function better with them. Even my family will say "mom are you still taking your meds?" The problem with most of them is they have two side effects, weight gain or wieght loss. Hello, which one is it? The problem is they dont know for sure. I take prozac which is supposed to cause potential weight loss, which did NOT happen for me but I didnt gain either. Unfortulately you dont know till you try them how they will work with you. Good luck. Talk to your doc. If you dont feel comfortable doing that, find you another one. God Bless.
