Im lydia and im 18 years old. For the past three years i have been struggling with tons of medical issues which have made me pack on the pounds. I have hoshimoto thyriod, PCOS, hypertension, narcolepsy,IBS, heart murmurs and high heart rate. When i was 15 years old i weight 100 pounds, and as of today ive hit the 200 mark. I am only 5 feet tall so the weight really shows and puts a huge damper on life. With my heart issues i am unable to work out or do cardio, and the PCOS messes with my hormones and cause me to gain more and more weight every month. I have dieted, been on pills and vitamins, attempted to work out and everything has failed. My docotr finally agreed to the lapband surgery, but my insurance comapny is saying they wont pay on it. I dont know where else to turn, if i cant get this surgery not only with my health continue to decline, depression and hopelessness are going to take over my life.

im just looking for support, tips and friendship.

Lydia, keep working with your doctor(s) and keep hammering at your insurance company.

Definitely keep on with the insurance company! Find out what they require to be approved. Mine required a 6 month Dr. supervised diet, my medical records for the past 3 years, a psch evaluation, and a letter of recommendation from my Dr. They declined me the first time I submitted, but then after re-doing the Dr. supervised diet they approved me. It took me a little over a year to get approved, but I kept on keeping on! I wish you the best of luck and please do not ever give up!

Don't give up the fight. Keep after your insurance. It may take a while, but you will win. As for support, all you have to do here is ask. Wishing that I could give you a huge hug. (I'm a hugger, it's the mom in me.) Hang in there. Keep fighting!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
