Hi,

I am planning on being Banded this November. I have started the classes and appointments and have lots of questions and concerns. I am 32 years old, mother of 3 and I have ALWAYS been overweight. I have tried so many different diets, and none of them worked, I felt hungry all the time. I also have been dealing with IBS and what the doctors think is the beginning of Colitis.

I am hoping that someone can help me with some questions that I have. Even thought they may sound incredibly stupid .

How do you feel right out of surgery?

If you get a headache or are prone to Migraines what can you take?

Can you feel the band around your stomach? Does it feel tight?

Would you do it again?

I would appreciate any and all answers or advice. I am really excited but also nervous.

Thanks so much and good luck to everyone!

I felt fine, just a little groggy after surgery. I was out patient and was home in my recliner 4 1/2 hours after being banded. The most difficult part for me was getting up from the toilet after surgery, those stomach muscles were really sore. You will be sore for 3-5 days, but it is completely manageable!

The Dr. gave me Liquid Lortab for the pain. I had more than enough to last me. Not sure if that would help with your migraines but you should certainly talk to your Dr. about it. Do you take Imitrex? I'm sure you would be able to take an Imitrex shot if you needed.

You can not feel the band around your stomach! You wouldn't know it was there except for the fact that you can't eat as much.

I'll be 3 months post-op as of July 9th. I'm still learning to break old habits, but I'm averaging 2 pounds lost per week. So far so good! I absolutely would have no reservations about doing this again!

Good Luck! If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message!

Hi there,

Well I was banded on 6/19 first thing in the morning. I went home that afternoon.

I too am 32 however I only have 1 child and he is 4 yrs old. Honestly...I was useless for the first 3 days..slept most of the day. By day 5 I was back to work and have been since.

Would I do it again...so far I would say Yes..don't get me wrong..I had my moments the week leading up to the surgery...*am I doing the right thing*, * I am volunteering to go "under"*, but it really wasn't that bad.

Do I feel the band...no as far as I can tell...it just feels a little sore inside, but nothing that freaks me out or anything.

I am prone to migraines...I haven't had one since the surgery however beforehand I check with my pharmacist to verify that my migraine meds could be crushed / cut...I take furicet.

Also you can "you tube" lab band and follow peoples vids from beginning to end...that was what sealed the deal for me.

Hope this helps...feel free to send me a friend request if you have anyother questions or concerns

What they said above; just wanted to add that I get Migraines. Not as often once I started a daily preventative, but I've had three since surgery (2 that I caught early). You probably won't be able to take an NSAID post-op, so I asked my doc for a non NSAID prescription (Epidrin).

Recovery is like other major surgery, but movement is tough for a few days/stomach. Can't feel the band, but you can sometimes feel things moving through it...just like you can sometimes feel things going down you esophagus now. 20 pounds in 2 months and I'm not at my sweet spot yet...yes, I'd do it again. Good luck to you! -BG

Had mine 2 months ago. I self payed (painful) and had my band too tight after surgery (vomiting...painful) but I would do all of it again in a heart beat even writing out the $16K check! Why didnt I do this sooner???Have lost 25 pounds but even better than that I have the 'food obsession monolog' out of my head! I am starting to feel almost like a normal person!
