So I called OHSU yesterday to talk to somebody about the problem I have been having with the protein powders. I ended up making appt with nutritionist. I went in and the nutritionist was really understanding and said lets find you somthing that works! That made me really happy and felt like ok she understands and its going to be ok. She told me to eat some eggs, tuna, chicken and beans and so on. She told me to eat a little at time and to really chew the food. I felt really good after leaving and like I could do this.

Then later that day, the nurse called from OHSU and was like you half to drink the protine shakes. She was just very rude to me. I said its really frusterating to me, to come pay money and be told by your nutrisenst to eat this way and know your telling me that I'm wrong. I'm just frusterated.

First of all, if you don't already know...ask the dietician/nutritionist the range of grams of protein they want you to take in every day. (For example, my dietician/doctor want me to take in between 30 - 80 grams of protein every day. It is to prevent hair loss and to keep you healthier.)

Then keep track of your total protein intake in grams. That way you can show the nurse (the next time you go in or when she calls) that you are getting enough protein in each day. As long as you are getting in enough protein - it shouldn't really matter in what form...of course unless your doc requires you to take in only liquids for three days following a fill (like mine does) followed by three days of pureed food before resuming regular consistency food.
