I failed to mention the main subject. My age is 58. It was my first time to create a blog and I thought my state and age would appear on the left side of the screen. Again I have appts. in 3 weeks with surgeon, phyc., and nutritionalist . I am on several medications for cholesterol, Bp, and weight 220 and 5'3. I have not read too many blogs from people in my age group, but I finally found a thread for the 50's group. That was helpful.:w00t: Thanks for responding in N.C.

Has anyone used the doctors at Baptist hospital in Winston-Salem, NC? Dr. Fuzz Fernadez?

I'm 60, turn 61 in Oct. and I'm on my way. Yest I had my one on one meetings for the nutrition, exercise, and physc evaluations. I am so excited and at first I was wondering about my age, I'm your height and weigh 54 pounds more than you do. (notice how i can't write my total weight ha) but after discussing with the staff, and doing research, it doesn't seen to be an issue. My risks of staying heavy as I am now, far outweigh the risks of surgery as far as I'm concerned. I wish you great success as you and I travel on this journey ---- we will have MANY more years of enjoyment out of life.

hi lexus lady

I was banded April 5th 09 and I am 54 years old. I am in good health luckily, so no co-morbitities. I weighed 238 at the outset and have now dropped 34lbs. Almost getting into the one hundred, just another 4lbs to go.

I have not regretted it for a minute, it has given me back a sense of control in/over my life.

I think it probably took me slightly longer to recover after the op than it would have done 20 years ago, but so what. I am going to be healthier and stronger than I have been for many years and I am going to live a better and probably longer life.

I hope this helps

Chubby

ps my hubby held me tonight in his arms and said "wow you are really shrinking" made me feel great

I'm 54 years old and will be banded 6/17/09 and I don't feel that I'm too old. In fact, is seems like the perfect time to really start living. I wish you well and you begin your new journey.
