So my surgery is in exacly 9 days! I've been feeling somewhat calm up until today when I talked to the hospital about confirming the exact time when I'm supposed to have my surgery. It's sinking in! This is really going to happen! Wow!

I'm starting to go through my checklist and I still have to get my chewable vitamins and protein shakes. I keep putting it off because I guess my surgery date didn't feel real yet. Anyway, what are the best protein shakes to buy for this? I don't want to buy a bunch of one kind, so I want to know what everyone likes the most and I'll get a combination of all. As far as vitamins go, I like the gummi kind. I recently got children's gummy multi vitamin and take double dosage. Is this OK? I prefer gummi Vs. the cheawables like the Flintstones vitamins, I hate the way they feel and taste.

Your response is appreciated!

Toodles!

hey,

all protien shakes are pretty much nasty but i would say just get what flavor you like and add a fruit and some ice and your good to go. you can look up online recipes on protien shakes and you will find some great tasting mixes low on carbs.

I just started a powdered (liquid) vitamin called RELIV...and have been pretty impressed so far with it. I couldn't find any chewable vitamin that could match it. The one drawback is it is yet another gross tasting thing to get down...but I've felt more energy since I started it last week. Congrats! I'm 16 days out!!

I wasn't allowed gummi vitamins or gummy anything as it can get stuck. I use the Centrum Chewables, but a liquid would work as well.

I didn't use the Protein Shakes for very long, but FYI most docs won't let you mix fruit in with them immediately post-op. I like the Atkins chocolate ones and the EAS chocolate ones (both pre-made from Wal-Mart or Target). I found these not to have that yucky protein texture as much as others. I did not like the metal canned ones.

I also bought the Isopure Alpine Punch powdered mix from GNC, but it's only OK to drink with lots of fruit mixed in, so I couldn't use it post-op. It's got that protein texture and is pretty yucky alone...I plan to use it after fills. My doc doesn't require protein shakes EVER, so this is just my choice to use them after fills. Good luck! -BG

Hey do ya'll not get a work up sheet to tell you what you can have , my doctor and nutrition gave me a worksheet book and tells for the first 3 days a clear liquid diet, consume of jello sugar free, popsicles sugar free, chicken or beef broth low sodium , 100% fruit juice only 4oz a day. i went to the gnc store and got a protein powder non flavored and mixed it in with my water and thats how i got my protein and only mix it half it calls for or it will be too strong. and for your vitamins check with your doctor , cause i believe no gummy vitamins due to getting stuck in the pouch . beneprotein is good protein supplement order it on line. i also take the celebrate chewable vitamins and calcium supplement don't for get it or you will be in trouble and make sure you drink your 64 oz of water a day.
