Change in strategy. What strategy works best for you?

I have changed my strategy. I am no longer counting calories and only weighing in at the doctors once a month. I am trying not to be upset and judge success or failure via numbers. I know I am being successful based on people's comments and the way my clothes fit. Ultimately, I am trying to simply forget about my food obsession by incorporating my new lifestyle in to my daily routine. What strategy do you find works best for you? The band to sleeve revision is unfortunately only a tool for me. I must work really hard eating healthy food choices and exercising to actually lose weight. I am comforted knowing it is not a temporary change!

Weight Loss

After three weeks of eating very well, and exercising I have lost 8 pounds! I am almost where my normal weight range would be, but I am really looking forward to going beyond my normal weight And going much much lower. This surgery certainly is not the magic cure, but it has definitely given me motivation. It Is motivating because I know there's no way I can get back to where I was weight wise. This is the end of the yo-yo effect.

Finally! Shopping Time?

Finally, people are really noticing my weight loss. It has been almost 2 months. I really expected the weight to just drop off of me, but That is not the case. I have been working really really hard; it is nice that people are starting to notice. I put on a shirt that was extremely small last fall. Not only did it fit today, it was also loose! I think another two or three weeks may require me to do some shopping! Yippee!!!

Crazy Hungry n not feeling full...? Anyone?

Yesterday, I was stark raving mad with hunger. I could not stop eating. Has this happened to anyone else? I actually bought a salad from outback steakhouse at lunch assuming I would only be able to eat a couple of pieces of lettuce or cucumber. I was completely wrong-- I scarfed the entire thing With no feeling of restriction. I do not understand how this works. I do not understand how I can eat an entire salad-- a house salad-- and not be full!! By the end of the day I just gave up and consumed over 2500 cal. On a normal day I eat between 850 to 1000 calories with low-carb and high-protein as my focus. Today, I do not feel particularly hungry, and I feel restricted. How is this possible? Has anyone else experienced the same thing? I would love to hear your feedback. Thank you.

Energy!

Well, I am 6 1/2 weeks out. I have really increased my exercise and today I did 30 minutes on the treadmill most of it in zone two. (I use a heart rate monitor to record my data). I have started noticing I can fit into close one size smaller, and I have a lot more energy! So whether the pounds are coming off or not, I am feeling good about myself and my level of energy!! I weigh in at the doctors on June 3. I don't know whether I am excited about it or not...

Not A Magic Cure--Am I Alone?

Again I find myself thinking that this surgery was supposed to be the magic cure. It is not. My weight loss is only 1 pound per week. My diet is high-protein low-carb low-calorie (850 to 1000) and I must exercise often for that 1 pound per week. I see my surgeon every month n my next visit is 6/3. I'm hoping for a grand number. I am 6 1/2 weeks out. Am i the only one like this???   I keep waiting for my clothes to fall off of me--some sign apart from a number. But not yet. Only a couple of people have even noticed I've lost anything. I'm very disappointed...   Band to sleeve revision. 6 1/2 weeks out, 22.5 down

Carb Sensitive?

I am currently six weeks post op, but only losing a pound a week. I had complications with my surgery resulting in a 10 day hospital stay. Once I came home and shed all of the extra IV fluids, I lost 20 some pounds. However, now it is a painfully slow 1 pound a week average loss. I spoke with my surgeon about my frustration, the obvious negative calorie balance resulting from a drastically reduced caloric intake, And he told me that some of his sleeve patients may be carb sensitive. Have any of you been told you were carb sensitive? I know some people talk about going through phases of not losing weight, but I am truly concerned. I am a band to sleeve conversion patient. The band really did not work for me, and now I'm really fearful that the sleeve will not work either. All I keep thinking is I know I did not have two WLS only to be virtually the same size. Of course, the question from the doctor, nurses, and dietitian is, "have you been working out? " As if that is the reason why my weight loss is so slow. Grrrrrrr....
