My Journey to Health

Week 2 of C25k

Ok, I finished week 1 of the Couch to 5k program, and did great. I followed the "Podrunner Interval" program 3 times in week 1, resting on my days off. This included 8 intervals of "run 1 minute, walk 90 seconds".   Now I'm ready to move to Week 2, which is "run 90 seconds, walk 2 minutes". I'm really excited about this!!!   My weight hasn't changed, but I have been eating more calories this week... all pretty much healthy stuff, but a bit more than recently. I'm not concerned, as I know it will come off eventually.

Couch to 5k

I've lost 70 lbs so far, one year into the bandsters! Now its time to kick it up a bit. So I've started the Couch to 5k challenge, to learn how to run and get addicted.   I did my first run, and was so impressed with how well I did, and amazingly got the "runner's high" feeling I've heard about!

Financing Approved

My band costs $16,000. So I had to find financing for it. Credit Medical came through with the best rates, so I've gone with them.

Surgery Date

I had my consultation at the TLBC on June 14th. I had hoped to meet my surgeon, but he was in surgery so wasn't available. My husband came with me and was great.   I was surprised at the strange pre-op diet, but that's ok. I'm nervous, but excited.   My date has been booked for July 26th. I could have booked sooner, but I have too much stuff happening in between.

Before & After Photos

Here's some good before and after comparisons...   The first photo is of me and my DD in Sept 2007, just a few days after my first fill. I weighed about 285 at the time.   The second photo is of me and my kids last weekend. I weight about 185 now!

Strength Training

Wow... it's been a year since I blogged last! Well I graduated from Couch to 5k and am now a "Runner"! I run 4-5 x a week, and have recently started to strength train.   Through running I lost another 40 lbs, so I'm down almost 110 lbs total. I haven't lost any weight in about 3 months, but that doesn't upset me at all. I love my new body. I'm wearing a size 14 now, which is so great! My health is excellent and my diabetes is pretty much in remission. No drugs and my blood sugar is perfect.   I'm hoping the strength training will get me that last step to goal, but if I don't lose any more, I'm ok with that.
