Week #s 8 & 9

Highest known weight: 205 1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total Week #4 163.8 (-2.0) 15.2 total 1 month 2/18 161.4 17.6 total Week #5 161.4 (-2.4) 17.6 total Week #6 159.6 (-1.8) 19.4 total Week #7 157.4 (-2.2) 21.6 total Week #8 155.2 (-2.2) 23.8 total 2 months 3/18 154.4 (-7lbs from month 1 and -24.6 total) Week #9 152.8 (-2.4) 26.2 total Total weight lost from highest: 52.2 Bmi: 27.9   I am pretty happy with my numbers so far. I don't feel like the "fat girl" so much anymore. I have decided that when I hit 150, I am going to clean out my closet. I tried on some clothes the other day and I am thrilled. As far as shorts go, the 12s are a little big and the 10s are fitting well. I am also able to fit in 1 pair of size 10 jeans, so I'm thrilled about that. I am not going to miss all the 16s and 18s that I have!   I also take measurements once a month, and I have lost 5.5" at my waist, 3.5" from my chest, 5.25" from my hips, 4.5" from my abdomen, 2" from my calf, 1" from my arm, and 2.75" from my thigh. I have even lost 1" in my neck. I still feel like my lower stomach is my worst problem area. Also, my legs are still huge. Of course, my boobs are shriking faster than I'd like. :-(   I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I can eat pretty much anything without a problem (maybe that isn't such a good thing after all. lol). I feel really good. I just haven't really had any problems. Even my scars are really looking great! I am getting tons of compliments from people saying how good I look, which is so great to hear.   As far as future weight loss goes, I am trying to tell myself I will be happy with 5 lbs a month. I am sure it will start to slow down now. I am actually quite surprised that I am still losing over 2lbs a week. I think I'd like to stabalize between 120-125, so that is really only about 33 more pounds to go. I would love to reach that goal at 6 months out, but that may be unrealistic. A normal bmi for me is 136, so I'll be thrilled to get there. I feel pretty confidant that I'll be there by 6 months post op. I am really excited for each phase of this. I am now it the low 150s and I can't wait to hit the 140s. It has been a VERY long time since I have been there and I'm only 3 lbs away!!   As far as working out goes, I have been doing okay, but I really need to step it up again. I have kind of slacked over the last few days. I'd really like to get at least 3 really intense workouts in a week.   That's all for now.

Week #7 numbers

Highest known weight: 205 1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total Week #4 163.8 (-2.0) 15.2 total 1 month 2/18 161.4 17.6 total Week #5 161.4 (-2.4) 17.6 total Week #6 159.6 (-1.8) 19.4 total Week #7 157.4 (-2.2) 21.6 total Total weight loss from highest weight: 47.6   Nothing new to report. Things are going well. It seems like every week I have 3 days where I stay exactly the same weight no matter what I eat or how much I exercise. This week, I was 158.0 for the last 3 days. I finally dropped to 157.4 this morning.

Week 5 & 6 Numbers

Highest known weight: 205 1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total Week #4 163.8 (-2.0) 15.2 total 1 month 2/18 161.4 17.6 total Week #5 161.4 (-2.4) 17.6 total Week #6 159.6 (-1.8) 19.4 total Total weight loss from highest weight: 45.4   Slow and steady. I never feel like the scale moves for me, so it is nice to look at this and see that I am making weekly progress. I am thrilled to be in the 150s finally. It has probably been about 8 years since I got to the 150s. Also, four or five days ago I switched from prilosec to prevacid and it has made a big difference. I am not feeling hungry anymore. So happy about that! I'll check in again next Friday.

Week #4 Numbers

Highest known weight: 205 1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total Week #4 163.8 (-2.0) 15.2 total Total from Highest weight: 41.2   I feel like I am losing really slowly, but given my starting weight, I am very happy with a 15.2 lb loss in 4 weeks time! The scale hasn't budged in the last 4 days. I am playing tennis again and have played twice the last 2 days -- once for 2 hours and the other for 1 1/2 hours. Really good matches with lots of running on my part. I am playing again today for another 2 hours. I am a bit surprised that didn't help the scale to move a bit.   From here on out, I know my monthly losses will slow way down, and I am fine with that. Since I lost so much weight (27 lbs) in the months leading up to my VSG, lots of people are commenting on my weight loss which is nice. I am .8 lbs from just being overweight and not obese. I am hoping my monthly weight loss from here on out will be between 5-10 lbs per month. I think those expectations are reasonable.   I feel like I can eat more than I should be able to at 4 weeks out. I am still on soft foods, but had a salmon patty from costco yesterday and I was able to eat a little over half of it. Yesterday I couldn't get satisfied. I kept wanting to snack. I think I am going to try a different antiacid and see if that helps. For lunch I had an entire serving of tortilla soup. There were only a couple of chunks of chicken in it. I really don't think I fill up on liquids at all. I think soup will likely be my go to food when I eat out. At least I won't be self conscious and will be eating a normal portion.

Week #3 Numbers. :-(

Here are my numbers so far:   1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total   So only a 1.6 lb loss for the week. I told myself before surgery that I would be fine when I stall and/or the weightloss slows down. I have to admit, this has been very hard. I am doing well from the standpoint of getting all of my protein and fluids in. My calorie intake is between 450-700 calories a day, but being on liquids for 3 full weeks is tough! I am not "hungry" but I'm not satisfied either. My energy level is pretty low too.   I can't believe I only lost 1.6 lbs this week. What's crazy is the last 2 days I was at 165.4 and this morning I woke up .4 lbs heavier. Seriously? I hope I don't hit the dreaded 3 week stall on top of this. Ugh. I also worked out 3 times this week doing cardio. This is crazy. My original hope was to drop 15 lbs in the first month and then hopefully 6-10 lbs per month after that. Now I'm thinking that may be unrealistic. Last week, I would have said I am definitely on track to lose 15 lbs my first month. Now, I'm not so sure. Each week that weight loss has slowed down to about half of what it was the week before. If the trend holds, I won't make it. Hopefully, that trend will break this week. We'll see. I think all my past yo-yo dieting has really screwed with my metabolism.

Week #2

I am exactly 2 weeks post op today. I am feeling great! My incisions are so small and look really good. I got to start on full liquids on Sunday and have over a week left on this stage and I'm already sick of full liquids already. I typically have 1 protein shake each day than try to get at least 40 more oz. of water in. I should try to up that some. It isn't difficult for me to drink it's just A LOT of fluids. I have finally started to get some restriction on creamy soups. I am finding that I am eating too fast. I have started stopping and taking a break and I find after a couple of minutes that I am full and don't want the rest. Slowing down when I'm eating is going to be a huge adjustment for me!   As far as weight loss goes, it has really slowed down for me. Last week I was at 171 and this morning I was at 167.4. So, that's a 3.6 lb loss for the week. The last 4 days I haven't lost anything. I know it will happen, I am just being my usual impatient self. I have heard of the 3 week stall, but I think I hit a 10 day stall. Lol. Honestly, I am going to have to be realistic and look at my journey on a monthly basis and to be honest, I would be pretty happy with an 11 lb loss for the month, so I shouldn't complain about a 4 day stall.

Week 1 post op

I thought it would be a good idea to have a record of my journey, and what better place than here?   I was sleeved exactly 1 week ago today by Dr. Alvarez. He was great! I felt pretty good right after surgery and even the next day until about 1:00. The rest of that day and all of the following day I felt terrible. I have to admit, at that point I didn't care about my weight and wondered what I had done to myself. I didn't think I was the type to regret the surgery, but I was wrong. Beginning day 3 post op, I had turned a corner and really started feeling pretty good!   Of course I couldn't resist the scale and thanks to this site, I laughed and wasn't disappointed when the scale showed no loss. The scale did finally start moving on 1/23 and today, 1 week out, I am down 8 lbs! So exciting!   One thing that is different about my recovery compared to most is that I am having no problem with fluids. I can drink normally, and actually have to remind myself to slow down when I'm drinking. Today I have gotten about 50 oz. of fluids and 63g of protein.   I have never blogged before, so hopefully I'll get the hang of this.   Highest weight 205 Dos weight 179 Week 1: 171 (-8)
