Journey into my new life

Entries in this blog

Just waiting:

Just decided to start this journal to my new life. I started this journey several months ago and have jumped through lots of hoops to make it to today. I have seen the diet person, the psycologist x2 and have taken the weird 2.5 hour test. Wow that was interesting. Went to the seminar and that was so helpful. I will be having the intense sleep study on the 8th of Aug. and the Respirarory test on the 9th of August. I have meet with my surgeon and I have one more meeting with her on the 8th of Aug. I have delt with the insurance company and the long wait for the approval. I recieved the approval. Yeah, and my surgery date with be Aug 20th 2007. I have read the book and done the computer generated things sent to me by my doctors office. I will soon begin the pre-op diet that will take me up to the date of my surgery..... Wow I can not believe that it is almost here......:whoo:until next time my friends....:car:

Wow today was my first day and boy am I tired. I am only using 10# of weight, cause that is my weigt limit until I go back to the doctor for my first fill on Oct. 3,2007. I also walk at the park next to my house and also I ride my bike at the park. Not to keen on the bike riding yet, I have a sore butt!!!!!!!!:heh: Well good luck to all of you. UPDATE

Hello one and all, It has been a few days since I have typed in my journal. My weight loss is now up to 36#. Wow how I love my band......... I do not go for my first fill until Oct. 3rd, 2007. I really haven't been to hungry either. My stomach growns about 4:00pm everyday, and I simply eat a small snack and it is all better. I can't wait until I get the go ahead to work on my stomach muscles.... I wanted to start yesterday at the gym, but I refrained, cause I was scared to do it.... I am going to the YMCA about 3 times a week and I swim and lift weights, even though I can't lift over 10# until after the 3rd of Oct. I still go and do it faithfully each week... Well it is late and I need to go to bed. Good luck to each of you and keep on posting...

New updates before surgery

Just wanted to chat in my journal again. I read the first enty and forgot to state that I also had an upper and lower GI and a colonoscopy. I had my wonderful sleep study last night, and no pun intended I am more tired after having the sleep study than an average nights sleep at home.... Not to good of news on the sleep study. I was told that I had stopped breathing 100 times last night and my o2 dropped to 77%. They are to send the results to my surgeon and I am waiting for a reply to what to do next. I have an appointment for the trial c-pap machine on tuesday the 14th. I went for my respiratory test today also. Still waiting to hear the results of those tests too... I already know that I have severe Asthma, so I really am not sure what they are looking for. I will start the preop liquid tomorrow and that will carry me to the 19th of Aug. THEN THE BIG DAY ARRIVES YEAH:clap2: SURGERY AUG.20TH 2007 @ 9:00 AM:whoo::whoo:I will type more into this journal as the journey progresses..:car:

Pre-op Diet started

Well I have finished my first day of my pre-op diet. I drank 2 atkins shakes and ice tea all day. I had 2 fat free jello's and a necterine and some low fat cottage cheese. I can honestly say that it was not as bad as I intisapitated. One day down and Nine days to go.... I can do this. I will have good results when I go in for surgery on Aug 20th. I will write more tomorrow night and let everyone know my menu choices for day 2. All is well so far.:car::whoo:

Day three and still alive...LOL

Day three on the pre op diet, not as bad as I antisipated. It is harder to stay at home and do the diet then be at work for 12 hours. Still drinking tea and atkins shakes. Vanilla is better than chocolate in my book. Gee, never thought that would come out of my mouth. I love most chocolate. I also intertwine fresh fruit and low fat cottage cheese, and fat free jello. Not to tired of any of the food yet, just get bored really easy and need to stay busy, so I stay away from all the other food which I need to feed the family with. Well I have 7 days til surgery..... Just waiting to start my new journey into a new life.... I'll write more in a few days...:whoo::car::clap2:

Day 4 ion pre-op liquid diet....

It is now half way through day 4 on the preop liquid and limited food diet. I can say I am happy that my sugars are staying in normal range. Why should'nt they I am hardly eating that much. So far today I have had 16 oz of diet snapple, fat free cottage cheese, 2 splenda fat free yogarts, 1 splenda sugar free fudge pop, lots of ice tea and iced water. I am very fussy and tired all the time. Not sure how to get out of this funk. I have 6 days left of the diet before surgery day. It truly has not been to bad, except for the fussiness and being tired. I wish the days and nights would go by quicker, so the big day will get her sooner. O, well, I will type again at a later date.

Still wrorking away on the preop diet

Well gang, here it is on day 6 of the preop diet. Still alive and kicking.... Just got home from my second sleep study. I had to wear the mask last night and sleep at the hospital. It wasn't so bad I suppose. Just keep thinking mind over matter and I'll be fine. All in all I had a good night with the mask on. Now I have to get the RX and get the machine and all the equipment. WOW more money to come up with. Thats what really sucks. The preop diet is still going fairly well. Not quite so hunger now that I am on day 6. Still plugging along and I am so excited and counting the days til I'm in band land...... AUG.20th Yeah!!!!!! I'll type more again later. Take care and good luck on everything..... Nulife2be

Day 7 of preop diet and doing well

Day 7 and doing just fine, only 3 days to go before the long awaited band land. Since I found out that I was a diabetic and need to take medication for this also, I have lost 18 lbs along with the preop diet. Hope my surgeon is happy as I am. I think I found out that I was a diabetic in May of 2007. I still only eat just a little bit at each meal with the preop diet, and I am not hungry between meals Yeah!!!! The only problem that I find that I am having now is..... Cooking meals for my son and my boyfriend. It is hard not to eat what I fix for them right now, since I am on this preop diet. I know it will get easier and will soon change when I can eat regular foods. So looking forward for that. Write more later.:whoo::clap2::eek::eek:

Just an update

:(Hello all, Just had a few spare minutes to update my journal. To date I have lost a total of 44#'s. I am still going to the YMCA 3-4 times a week and I am also doing some exercising at my home. I bike ride with my son and play basketball with him. At the YMCA I am doing 10 minutes of Cardio and all 15 weight machines each day. I just added today the abdominal crunches on the mat and the standing crunches with the cross bar. I have had my first fill, but still have no restriction. I can eat what ever I want, so I have to watch it really close. I am not due for another fill until Nov. 5th. The scale has not moved since my last fill on Oct. 3rd. I still continue to go to the gym and nothing is happening. It is really starting to get me down. I have no one to talk to about anything reguarding my band and the weight loss. I am hungry all the time and the will power is going south really fast...... I am still makeing wise food choices, but I can't seem to make the scale move. Any suggestions? Please respond if you have any comments. I must go for now. Keep up the good work one and all and I will post more at a later date.... Nulife:cry:eek:

26 # and still going strong

Hello all it has been 3 days since I have entered band land. Wow life with the band is so great, very little pain, more energy, very little gas and diarrhea now. I have lost 26 pounds since the end of May. I can start on the full liquid today and I am going to the store with my son when he gets off the bus from school. Really looking forward to the Tomato soup. and sugar free pudding. Did you know that you can make any meal high protein, by adding carnation instant milk to it, just go by the directions on the can. Well take care and keep in touch. It seems that I can not get my ticklefactory frog to work right, because I can't remember my pin. Therefore I will have to type my weight loss each time. Aug. 27th First week post op and doing great....

Well gang, tomorrow is one full week post op. I am feeling great, hardly no pain. I am eating well and what I am supposed too. Steri strips still attached and look to be healing just fine. The scale has stopped going down though. That is kinda of a bummer. I have lost 27.5 # since the end of May and including the preop diet, so I suppose I should't complain huh. I have a appointment with the doctor for a week post op appt. I also went out over the weekend and brought a ladies mountain bike and I am so looking forward for the go ahead and start bike rideing with my 12 year old son. Well I hope this helps all the people who are in the process of getting the banding and those of you are near surgery... I Love my band so far, and would have the surgery again in a sec. Good luck to all:whoo::clap2: Nulife2be

Feeling and doing super!!!!!!!

Hello one and all bandsters. Yesterday I went to the 1 week postop appt. All went great. They removed the steri strips, all is healing well, still a little sore on the port side, but it is bareable. I have not had any pain med since 2 days after my surgery, except Ibuprophen for a headache. Yeah for me... I got the go ahead to start adding regular food slowly back into my diet. So last night for dinner I made Green bean caserole and tuna salad. I know they do not sound good together, but that is what I was in the mood for. Then of coarse chips for the rest of the family, and they ate there tuna salad on a bed of lettuce. Anyway I was really sacared to try real food that I needed to chew.... All went well and it all stayed down. I got up this am am made egg salad and it went fine to. Not eating much, only few bites and I am full, so I suppose the band is working. I do not have any thing in my band right now. I have scheduled a my first fill for OCT 3rd if I need one. They told me that If I a still losing at a slow and steady pace I might not need to get one then and can postpone if needed for a few weeks later. I can also start to ride my new bike. Can't wait to start that with my 12 year old son. Just to let you all know since May of 2007 including the preop and the surgery I have lost a total of 29 great #######'s YEAH!!! I still have a long way to go, but I belive I am off to a great start.... Good luck to each one of you and we can and will WIN this battle with our weight.........
