Pre Op Class For Vsg

Hi everyone. Well I had a pre op class the other day that was so informative. My surgeon went over everything about what to expect before surgery, at the hospital, during surgery and after surgery. As well as went into everything we needed to do like with nutrition, vitamins and exercise and everything. It really has helped me with my anxiety about surgery and I feel well informed now. He really prepared us for what to expect. My surgery date is coming up in less then a month now and I'm happy, nervous and excited all at the same time.   Take Care Teresa

Brene Brown - The Power Of Vulnerability!

Hello Happy New Year!   I'm glad the holidays are over because now it is time to refocus and prepare for my Surgery. Friday is my Pre-Op appointment and I'm getting very nervous but at the same time excited and ready for this new chapter in my life. At our last support group meeting this great video was mentioned. I found it very helpful for some of my issues. Because one thing I have to remember about Weight Loss surgery is that this is a great tool to help you lose weight, but that is all it does: it doesn't fix everything. It won't fix any issues you have in your life, your head or in your marriage and it won't fix the reason you got that way to begin with > Something you need to face and work on and stuff like that. So I've discovered a few of my issues and found this to be a great video for me so I wanted to share it with you as well. So watch and enjoy: I hope you find it enlightening and helpful like I did.   You Tube: Brene Brown - The Power of Vulnerability! I'm Sleeved Yeah!

Hi everyone. I had my sleeve surgery on Monday Jan 16th and stayed in the Hospital on Monday, Tuesday and all day Wednesday.   Everything went good with the surgery and I even got some nice pictures of my new sleeve. The hardest part of this for me was the drain tube and the pain from that drain was so excruciating for me. The pain was on one side and went up to my shoulder. OUCH did that hurt. But once they took that drain out I felt so much better, what relief. I was nauseous on the second day and ended up throwing up once, I think part of that was from having to drink that stuff for the leak test. They took good care of me though with some very helpful meds for the pain and nausea.   On day 3 after my sleeve surgery I was feeling great, a little tender in the tummy area but I feel so good, especially since they took out that drain. Wow, all these months waiting for this day to come and it’s done. When I started coming out from surgery I remember the first thing I said was is this for real or a dream and they are like "this is real" :smile1: Now I’m officially on the loser bench.   By day 4 I was feeling good. I had some sugar free pudding in the morning to help me take my prilosec that the Dr prescribed me. I have to open the capsule up and put it in the pudding and take it that way. It took me a little while but I was able to eat one of those little pre packaged cups of pudding and I feel fine. I got down 16oz of water already; the goal is to drink 64 oz a day.   I gained about 15lbs in the hospital from IV fluids and I’m finally seeing some of that come off plus more, I have lost 30lbs so far since I left the hospital.   I’ve been making myself get up every half hour and walk around the house a few times.   I'm hanging in here and doing very well since my sleeve surgery and keeping track of me and having hubby take a picture of me every week.   Life is good! :smile1: Teresa

Happy Saturday

Hi ya’ll... How is your weekend going? OK I'm getting excited but very nervous about surgery. Things are going well though and I signed my paperwork and found out my time for surgery. I’m hoping I don’t have much nausea after surgery because I'm allergic to some of the anti-nausea medicines. So I'm hoping after surgery I can handle the nausea if I have any... For Christmas we got a pressure cooker and I love it. Today we experimented with making soup and tomorrow we are going to make lentils in it. It cooks the food so fast and when you put meat in the pressure cooker it is so tender. I think this will come in handy. I like making soup in it and will use this later on down the road. But right now I have so start my Liquid Diet soon... So anyway, that’s about it for now, I just wanted to check in. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend...   Teresa

Omg ....

The day is getting closer, Monday is almost here. I'm ready to do this, but I'm scared about the surgery and pray I don't have any complications. My Dr has me starting my liquid diet 2 days before surgery, and then continues for 10 days after surgery. I also have to start the "wonderful" experience of Bowl Prep one day before surgery: Magnesium citrate... OH JOY LOL .... So, anyway that's about it. I want to thank everyone on this forum for sharing your journey, it's so helpful and everyone one of you is just such a great support to me.   Thank you and make it a great day I'll check in again before surgery.
