Pre-Surgury stuff

Hey, its 12:54 april 24th 2006....i should be studying exams but i'm here doing my journal!   I will start with what i did before getting into this, since i don't have much to say about the pre-op diet (i started 1 hour ago...its a 10 day diet consisting of yogurt and cottage cheese)   So....around march i started thinking out of the blue...I need help, i've tried everything, I don't even know what clicked but all of a sudden i felt the urge to look up everything on the RNY gastric bypass. While i was researching that i found info on the Lap-band...which led me here. I was looking for forums where real people were discussing real issues.   I started out just talking about it with my parents, they were ok about it but quickly warmed up to the idea. My mom did research and found someone in Toronto. This was the TCC (toronto cosmetic clinic) So i booked a consult in person for late may. I was searching the forum and found out no one really knew them and their reputation was not established, and their post-op care didn't add up. I opted for the TLBC (Toronto laparascopic band centre). Where i could do a phone consult which i booked for april 5th...   Filled out the forms, did the consult, set the date....May 4th 2007. I spent countless hours on LBT researching, viewing threads, looking at before and after pics, reading horror stories about the complications.   Now comes the real test...10 days, pre-op diet! I will keep you (if anyone is actually reading) posted!

July 5 2007

Well it has been a while since i have posted in the journal.   Here is a summary of what has happened May 4th Surgery: It went well, i recovered pretty fast, within a week i felt near 100%. June 18 First fill: I got a max 5ccs (felt no restriction whatsoever when i got on solids). I gained a few pounds from pre op because being back on solids my body punished me for losing lol. But thats the process.   July 4th Second Fill: Yesterday, had a max of 2ccs (felt restriction for only a few days). I gained again 2 pounds. So now i'm hoping i feel restriction, as i havent had any solid food (been on liquids 24 hours as of 8 minutes ago) So now i will go see how the fill is treating me, hopefully i feel some restriction on this one and only need a minimal fill next time.   I will be posting on the boards as usual but probably rarely on the journal.

Day 1 pre-op diet

Wow...i have eaten less than 900 calories today. in the past 24 hours i only ate 3 big yogurt containers. I have an empty feeling in my gut...i want some carbs or meat...anything.   I am happy that i am down like 7 pounds...but really it's not a big deal, i used to be able to lose that much in a day before, but then it would come back right away...the only difference is now i can count it because i am going to keep it up this time!!   I am going to go out for exercise when i feel hungry, i will do something to occupy myself. Can't wait to pass the wall, and be in the smooth sailing zone where i'm not craving food anymore. (I hope it comes)

Early day 2 pre-op diet

It's 2:12am day 2 pre-op diet...I can't sleep because i slept during the day yesterday (studying all night the night before for exams).   I am thinking about food, it is unbelievable, i could eat anything right now...I won't, i can't.   I will definitely look back on these 10 days as probably the hardest thing ever once i get past them!   No wonder i could never stick to any diets...at least now at the end i have the prospect of the band, health, weight loss...before i would've given in to the hunger because the weight loss would seem distant, impossible.   It is the first time in my life where i can i WILL weigh less tomorow than i did today, or less in a month than i do today...etc. It is the first time where i can say, WHEN i lose weight and mean it...not just saying it.   I think i'm going out for a walk...i dont care that its almost 2:30am....   And now i hear all about bandster hell...aka the weeks on fluids and mushies...great. My last real meal was 2 days ago...and i wont have one for like 1 month...agghhh. Writing this down makes it easier i guess. Anything to get it out of my head.

Day 2 pre-op diet

Well...I weighed myself this morning, and i've lost 10 pounds, so i'm pretty happy about that. No change in exercise, just stopped eating basically. I'm on yogurt alone. I tried the cottage cheese and i can't stand it. So, yeah, brings me closer to goal...I think that being a young man has something to do with it, since it's easier for me to lose weight...although it has never felt easy for me in the weight department. I'm only staying motivated by reminding myself of the greater good.
