Sugar Is Not My Friend Anymore !

Why after 6 months am I having this insatiable desire for sweet stuff? I have so many conversations with myself about this nasty desire for Chocolate!!!!! I've just given myself a new challenge to say goodbye to 10lbs by the end of February , so when you read this post , please send me a message and ask me what I am doing to reach that short term goal, I need to be accountable , challenge me my fellow VSG'rs . I am going to post new front , side and back views this weekend , I have been remiss with the holidays so time to get back on track!!!!!! I know I can, I know I can .... I can!!!!   Side note: I tried Hot Yoga , I loved it!!!! However next time I go I can't do my Jazzercise and then back to back this class , my blood sugar dropped and I almost fainted !!!! 6mo. Update

Hello my Fellow VSG'rs , its been a while since I posted on here !!!! I have been good and working my plan !!!! Yesterday I got on the scales and found myself down to 186lbs , YEAHHHHHH!!!!! I started out 6 months ago at 251 so I am really thankful!!!!! My workouts are the best , Jazzercise is awesome !!!!! Even on Thanksgiving day we had a special Jazzercise class to earn our Thanksgiving Dinner, it was deemed the "Huff and Puff before you Stuff Class" Honestly I can not stuff anymore, my stomach tells me your done in non negotiable ways everytime I sit down to eat! I have made up in my mind its ok not to taste or have everything served, its not like food is going to cease to exist , so I get in the protein and have a taste of whatever it is I desire and I am done. I will make sure to post new pics and update you guys a little more when I have some time off for the holidays . Hope everyone is doing well and don't let the holidays get you off track work your plan !!!!!! Work your sleeve!!!!   Two fingers, One Love !!!   CAMMYD:-)

3 MO. Post - OP Visit with my Surgeon 10/5/11

Yesterday I visited with my surgeon for my 3 month post op check-up , I have lost 49lbs (7 since my 2 mo. post -op blog) , my surgeon says I am over 40% of my weight loss goal now at three months!!!!!!!   Honestly, I have to say its hard to believe I have achieved that mark because , I still see "Me" and all my imperfections when I look into the mirror. When I look down , I see the same belly, hips, and thighs that I've always seen. My clothes tell the story because they are falling off of me. But my perception hasnt shifted to see a "new me." I walk more, work out and I feel great , but I just don't see a that much of a difference personally. My surgeon however was very reassuring and commented before I left "wow I can't wait to see you in three more months , I may not even recognize you !" My mind internally commented "Really, I mean come on now .....REALLY?"   I was thinking my progress is slow , yes I know it takes time and hard work , both of which I have vested , I just think I am having way too many stalls and such small little drops in weight from week to week. Anyone feel like that besides me ?   Thanks for sharing your imput , I will post my three mon. photos soon , thanks for your support everyone !!!!!   Two fingers, One Love ! CAMMYD*:-)

9lbs TIL WONDERLAND OH YEAH !!!!!

Yes I spelled it Wonder ,because I wonder what its going to feel like to be back in my 100's, I can't remember the last time I saw a 1 as the first number of my weight ...sigh!!!!! But OH BABY I sure am looking forward to it in the not to distant upcoming days!!! I got on the scales the other day and they tell me I am at 209.2 , the scale wavered between 208.9 but stopped at 209.2 , I'll take it !!!!! I went to Jazzercise to get my sweat on and burn some of the calories from yesterday and my Jazz instructor really made my day when she said   "The more I see of you ... The Less I see of you !!!!!!!!"   Wow that felt good to hear, I don't visually see the change , but I feel it in my clothes and the way I feel in general.   MY STATS:     June 10th, 2011 251 lbs - Two weeks prior June 27th, 2011 234 lbs - Day of Surgery July 13th, 2011 217 lbs - Two weeks after surgery (Down 34 lbs) Sept 1st , 2011 209 lbs - Today a little over two months - (Down 42 lbs)   9 lbs to Onederland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate right, worked out but only loss inches not pounds grrrrrr!!!!

Lady's here is some information I came accross that gave me the Oprah , Ah haa, moment !!! How many of you have said to yourselv, I havent eatten that much and I worked out really hard, so how the hell does your body hold onto weight and still manage to get smaller while you are on your chosen low carb diet?!? Losing inches but not weight? You know the scenario: You are on Induction for two weeks, and you haven't cheated even once. You notice that your clothes fit better, that you are stepping a little livelier, and as far as you're concerned, all's right with the world.   But then you step on that evil construction of the Devil himself, the bathroom scale, and you instantly feel betrayed. The stupid thing insists that you have done nothing! Sometimes, it even states you have done less than nothing; it accuses you of cheating because it tells that you haven't lost any weight! Well, there area couple of simple explanations to help you get through this trying time.   First of all, if it is at all possible for you to do so, throw that insipid Monster Scale in the trash. Or at least put it up somewhere that it is really, REALLY inconvenient to get to so that you won't be tempted to ask it's opinion every single day of your life. Face it. If you are feeling better and your clothes are looser, do you really need the scale to tell you that you're on the right track? No! You don't! Why do you think you do it, then? I'll tell you why. The low fat diet demons have a tenacious hold on your brain. That's right, you've been brainwashed. All your life they have told you through doctors, dietitians, newspaper and magazine articles, surgeon generals and the like, that you give up X calories per day and you will lose a pound of fat. They even go on to tell you how much fat you should lose each week. In the process, they've made you dependent on the Monster Scale to gauge your progress!   What a big lie!   Even on the diets that "they" advocate, the Monster Scale does not often cooperate. You go back to the Diet Demons and demand to know why the scale does not reflect the torture you have put yourself through for a month. They immediately start backpedaling on the "give up X calories and lose a pound of fat" story, and start talking to you about water retention and muscle buildup. Sometimes, they even blame it on you with questions like, "Are you sure you counted the calories in everything you ate?" (This is delivered with a knowing little smile that makes you want to rip their knowing little face off.) Being the type that is given to blaming things on yourself, anyway, you cooperate with an answer like, "Well….." They pounce on this with "Ahhhh, well.." Then, they launch into one of their scoldings/lash/encouragement speeches.   So, get off their bandwagon, already!   Then, there's the competitive spirit. You hear about what other people have done on your chosen diet. Yes, Brian went on Atkins a year ago and lost over a hundred pounds. Yes, a hundred pounds in a year is over eight pounds a month, or 2 pounds a week, or .0119 pounds per hour….but, "Hello? You ain't Brian!" And, did Brian ever say that he lost .0119 pounds per hour? No! He said a hundred pounds in a year. This only proves he got on the scale twice; a year ago, and yesterday. Take a hint from Brian. Stay off the scale!   The second solution is to understand what is going on in your body in light of the current state of human affairs. Today, all a person has to have to eat every day is money and transportation to a grocery store or, better yet, a nice restaurant. However, your body's survival instincts have not matured in a million years. Your body still thinks you are a hunter-gatherer. Yes, in spite of a million years of evolution, your body still thinks you are going to have to go out and kill a mammoth to eat. The survival instincts with which you are going to have to come to terms are read-only memory. You can't overwrite them. Deal with it.   That said, let me tell you what happens when you lose a pound of fat. Your body has been saving this fat for that long hunting expedition you're going to have to go on to track, kill, dress and retrieve that huge animal. It keeps the fat in little pillows distributed throughout your body. When you start losing fat, it doesn't trust you to continue whatever insane path you have chosen that is causing the fat to dissipate. So, when the fat comes out of the pillow, it injects water as a "place holder." Sometimes that water actually replaces the weight of the fat it lost. Sometimes it replaces the volume.   Water weighs more than fat just like lead sinkers weigh more than feathers. If you stuff a pillow with a pound of feathers, you'll have a nice big pillow. If you stuff a pillow with a pound of lead sinkers, you'll have a nice (but rather hard and uncomfortable), small pillow. Now, let's say your body removes a pound of fat and replaces the weight with a pound of water. Your weight will stay the same, but you will be smaller. But, if your body decides to replace the lost fat by volume, that is a quite different story. Remember the great big feather pillow as compared to the tiny lead sinker pillow? Well, now think of a gallon of feathers and a gallon of lead sinkers. Try to pick up the gallon of feathers. Piece of (you'll pardon the expression) cake. Now, try to pick up the gallon of lead sinkers. Sucker's heavy, ain't it? So, you will be smaller, but you will have gained weight.   Eventually, your body makes the executive decision that you are not going to replace the fat you lost, and it lets go of the water. In the words of Danny Skaist: "When your body accepts the fact that they are no longer needed, the water will be expelled and the cells closed. This is known as the "whoosh."   What makes your body decide to replace by weight or replace by volume? I dunno. But I do know that it does not seem consistent to the casual observer. What makes your body decide that you are seriously not going to replace the fat you lost? I dunno. But now you know why it's so important to drink your water, huh? Loss of fat is inextricably related to water intake. It's more than a little foolish to go on a diet that facilitates the removal of fat and then refuse to give your body the tools it needs to do so.   Bottom Line: Stop getting on the scale and drink your water. If you stick to your plan and wait for the "whoosh," it will come.       <BR clear=all>

Pre OPP feelings !

I have read so many encouraging and informative posts on this site and they have all made me calm and ready for my Sleeve Surgery on Monday. I saw my Primary Care Dr. yesterday for my preop visit with her , I took the time to thank her for really listening and hearing me!!!! She's the best and switching over to her was the best decision I ever made! I was excited on Wednesday ,because following this liquid diet enable me to have a good BP on my visit to her office. normally I was getting some dissapoint readings but Wednesday I am proud to announce it was 116/82 hooray because 151/96 was really freaking me out !!!!!!My mom had high blood pressure and diabetes along with a host of other ailments and I never want to suffer some of the effect of those challenges she has gone through. I made this decision for me , I am too young to have so many issues caused simply by weight. I respect anyone with their battle in getting fit and healthy when their weight serves as a barrier in doing so , I hope to lead by example so that my loved ones can take stock of the life changes I am making and get on board to help themselves as well.   72 hours and I am on my way to CDH for VSG!!!!!!!! Thank God

PRE-OP DIET

Dr. Tariq's nurse called yesterday to inquire how the diet is going and to have me go stand on the scales , yeeeeeah me!!!!!! I have lost 16 lbs from 3 wks ago following this liquid diet. Only a few more days until I get the sleeve I am so happy to finally reach this day! I have gotten hungry and been very tempted to just bounce back into my old habits and whip a mean meal that satisfies the soul, but I think about the greater good in what I am trying to do for myself and the sabotage thoughts go right out the window!!!! It's amazing how you can condition yourself to drink water and feel full , I never remained constant in doing this before I felt I had something at stake !   Thanks for the call Jen!!!!!! You guys are keeping me on track !

EAS Liquid diet wk 1 b4 surgery

I've done this liquid diet for a week now and I have lost a total of 3lbs for the week , I started cutting my intake of everything a week before that and doing my Jazzercise. I have a total weight loss of 10lbs from my doctor visit 3 1/2 wks ago Yeahhhhh!!!!!! My surgeon Dr. Nabil Tariq on 6/17/11 told me he wants me to lose 5 more lbs before the 27th , I feel confident I can do it . Practiciing this sipping is a bit hard because I just want to drink this stuff and get past the taste. I prefer water but I know that has no nutrional value.
