Well Folks, here it is. I thought I would have so much more to write about when it came to and I probably do, but I want to go out and enjoy life. My one year surgiversary is tomorrow. I couldn't have imagined what life would be like a year from then and now that I am here today, I still can't believe where I was and where I am now. There are so many things that have changed for the good and a realization of so many things in my life that have come clear. The ride was fun, it wasn't always easy, it's the best thing I have done for myself yet, it still takes work every day, and I wouldn't ever change my decision to have surgery. A of the simple things that have changed in my life:
*I can walk up a flight of stairs (and choose to now) without losing my breath
*I can jog nearly 3 miles
*I don't have a debate whether I should get down on the floor to play with my niece because I can't get back up without some help of something to push off of
* I can shop in the regular section of all the clothing stores; Lost over 10 dress sizes and a shoe size
*I can see each side of a chair, noticed this in my car
*Seat belts fit without pulling them all the way out, haven't been on a plane since surgery, but I almost needed an extender on the flight I tightly squeezed it over my legs. Today I am sure that wouldn't be the case
*I have found a new love for cooking and exercise
* I can see the pendent on my necklace that now hangs 2 or more inches lower
**I feel beautiful, healthy, and happy! I am ready for the future!
*** I feel normal; I have respect for myself and now so do others
This is a journey and this is only the beginning of the rest of my life. I still feel like I have more work to go to reach my own personal goals, but in my heart and in the eyes of my boyfriend and close friends I was always a winner. Now I can say truthfully say I believe them.
Thank you to my surgeon Dr. Ramos Kelly and my wonderful coordinator Christi Beardon for making the process so simple. I want to also thank this site and the many of you that are a part of it that share your stories. I couldn't have done this without your support. Thank You!
Please feel free to check out my blog it has all my stats if you're interested.

Welcome back to the losers game. I forgot how important it was to be a part of my healthy lifestyle not just float next to it. Last month I lost nothing. This shocked and scared me right out of my rut of how important it is to put forth the effort to see results. Over the holidays I got a little lazy in my exercise. Honestly, I quit exercising if we are going to be truthful here. Plus I was over indulging way to often and choosing to eat whatever as long as it was a small portion. Well as we can all see and I myself which is the most important just sliding by won’t lose the weight forever. This past month I decided to show myself that with a little more control and simple calorie counting along with 3x a week workout on the treadmill. I can have the results I want. Even results that match the first few months of weight loss. The exercise goes to prove it has helped not only on the scale, but this month I have lost more inches than I have in a few months. To sticking with it not just now, but forever. This is my life and my body so I have to put in the work. No one else can do it for me. To an amazing month ahead and my one year surgiversary. *My own little pep talk.

Current weight 183 … 1lb. to go!
This is something I read before I decided to have surgery. It was what helped me decide that this was the right option for me and I wasn’t doing anything less than what I deserve. It still rings true for me today.
“This is a huge rant topic for me, so I will spare you all the long ALL CAPPED emphatic response LOL. This is my single question back to anyone who says I took the easy way out: Why should I NOT take the 'easy' way out? Seriously -- this is not a rhetorical question: Why not? Fat is not a moral failure; I didn't do anything Bad or Wrong, and I don't 'deserve to be punished' by doing it the "hard way" over and over and over again. The end.”
That being said having the vertical sleeve gastrectomy was and is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have never felt so good and been so happy. The weight loss has slowed, but it is still coming off every month. I had a small stall again this month where I didn’t lose for two almost 3 consecutive weeks; however I knew that I was still losing because in those weeks I had lost a complete jean size even when the scale didn’t move.

Right on track, halfway through time halfway through weight loss to goal
Things are moving right along. Weight loss has slowed dramatically. There are times of doubt whether I will truley make it to my first orginal goal, but the math is simple. Keep calories taken in below calories burned and weight loss is inevitable. The good thing is although the scale this month showed little mercy the tape measure goes to show that there are other ways to keep track of loss. This was the first time I have also had a stall and a gain all in one month. I was terrified that I had bottomed out. Around this weight was as low as I have ever been in 2 1/2 years. The last time I dieted with Slim 4 Life this is as far as I had made it. I think my body just remembers getting down to this number and felt like maybe it should stop, but my mind is saying no way. I feel great and better than ever. I can run and jump and even run up and down a staircase without running out of breathe. Yet, I now am finding other flaws that before would have never bothered me. I can see how big I still am. I still have a waist of close to 39 in and around the belly button still 45 in. That is huge! There is still much work to be done and although the weight loss has slowed down I still am losing and 5 lbs. is nothing to be bitter about. All I can do now is step up my game and make it through the holidays. To hoping that the next month measurments in weight begins with a "1". Happy Onederland I am hoping to see you soon.

Hello VST,
Welcome to my blog. It is so amazing how fast time flies by you when you’re having fun.I have had one of the best summers of my life and I feel I owe a lot of it to having vsg. Bonus: Also am falling in love with a fantastic person who makes me feel awesome even before I began losing weight!! I feel great and think I look great too. It’s odd though trying to describe to someone who has never gone through something like this or ever even been heavy how you feel, emotionally and/or physically. It’s hard but, becoming easier every day. The mirror and my camera have now become my friends again. So wonderful to take pictures again, as it has been a love of mine for along time and I didn’t realize how much I missed doing until now. The mirror some days is my best friend and other times not so much. It’s weird because I can pass by my full length mirror on the way out the door and think to myself ‘dawmn’ who is that girl, I am looking good. I can be fully satisfied and even impressed. Then other days all I see is a big plus sized girl who still has alot work to go. This thought will not stand in my way. Not now, not ever again. It’s a work in progress
Holy, moly so I really am five months post op. Craziness! Time is just moving along and the weight is coming off. For those pre-op and those just starting your time will come and sooner than you think. My tummy and I are getting along just great. I am really getting used to the smaller portions and have become habitual in my new ways of eating and scheduling meals. I do my water faithfully, as well as, protein shakes and vitamins. Exercise, uhg! Do I do enough no, do I enjoy it no, do I want to continue not really, does the working up a sweat help the weight loss, Yes! Sticking to it then, and I will talk to you next month about how much I hate it still. I am so grateful to have found this opportunity and to have gotten this chance to change my life. I feeeeelll soooo goooodd. To any who are considering surgery or have recently decided this is the right choice for you. Do not hesitate, however do your research and find what works best for you. The physical change is drastic, but the change you have to make mentally I feel is the more difficult part in the journey and one I am most working on currently. Now we do NUMBERS!

:welcome: Hello all from VST. Thank you for stopping by and checking out my blog. I keep this so I can keep track of all my numbers. There is not alot of valuable, self motivation talk in this, but it does show real numbers and real losses. This is just my blurb that I throw down and account for each month so I can remember my journey. This is the kind of stuff I was always looking for before I decided to have surgery so I though I would keep a very detailed log of all my numbers in case anyone wanted to know how it all came off. Plus its great to come back here and check and see how things are going and see that I am losing. Moving on!
:eek2: OMG, can not believe I am four months post of vsg. Time just flies by. When your in the moment sometimes things couldn't go any slower and all you want is the time to get to moving, but once the time does pass us by it seems almost too fast. Life is so short and I am so glad I decided to change mine for the better now instead of waiting till later. I could have lost so many valuable years to my weight. So ok a few things I want to mention I do not think about food the same way. Food is fuel and neccessary for me to live and to do things I need to get done. I don't worry any more about being hungry or what I am going to eat all the time. I do not really have cravings like I used to. I can see a commercial with food and not be mouth watering and go eat even though I probably wasn't even hungry. I do not think about pre eating before I go out. Like say before if I were to go out to a bbq or something like that I would eat first so I wouldn't look like a pig when we did eat or worry that there wouldn't be enough food. I am not embarrassed to eat in front on people now either. I remember alot of the food I would eat was when I was at home alone in my room. Its so great not to have to worry about things like that now. Its fantastic!
:peace: So I have had just about the most amazing summer I can think of. I have never had so much fun and done so many great things. A few things I did were go on a float trip where we went canoeing, Oceans of Fun, state fair, went to the Ozarks twice, family reunion, casino, out with friends to RCs, Polka Dot, and Goodfellas singing karaoke, BBQ, wore a dress/a bathing suit/shorts, oh and did I mention I also lost 53lbs in the process!! Hell yeah. Life couldn't get any better right now I've been saying, but every month I feel better and smile more and simply enjoy life.
:scared0: NUMBERS! That face is what I would have thought before this surgery. Nope this is more like it now :woot: This month was great. I lost another 9 lbs. which seems to be the tread for the past few months. I can hang with that. At that rate I'll be close to 200 by halloween and weigh less than my boyfriend at that point. This month I moved on the bmi scale also. I started this journey in the classification of morbid obesity. I moved down to obesity class 2 the first month out of surgery and just this month acutally this past week I have now moved under a bmi of 35 so that puts me in the classification of obesity class 1. Now some would say woopie big deal your still obese, but truthfully if you haven't been there you don't even know how great this feels to move down this scale and see your progress and know that you are just passing through these classes on your way to a normal bmi and a healthier you. It may take awhile, but the next class is overweight (for me about 190lbs) and I can't wait to get there it will be a great day. I began this journey and set my goal at 157lbs because that would put me in a normal bmi range. All I ever wanted was to be normal so that is still my goal. I know it may be a far stretch, but we will see when we get down to that point. It may come down to more of a jean size that a weight. Personally that may be the more important factor. I am 47% to my goal weight so by next month I hopefully will be over half way there. Which means I will have lost more than I need to so ooo good feeling. The measurement numbers are a little lower than before, but I think its just because I did them a week late last month and a half a week early this month. So next month's numbers on the tape will hopefully be much bigger, well or much smaller acutally! Sweet, thanks for taking a look.

Labor Day Goal
Ok, so 2 months ago I made this goal and I hope to still reach it. I figure I will post now about it since it is only a week away and I can post about my next goal as well. I have 4lbs and one week. I think I consider this goal a win. I am much closer to this than my 4th of july goal that I missed by like 9lbs. If I miss this by a pound or two it won't ruin my day. I think I am still doing fantastic.
Labor Day Goal 7/5/11 to 9/5/11 -- 2 months or 9 weeks
Start Weight 238
Goal 216
To lose -22
Avg./week 2.44
Next Goal is Halloween :bat:
7/5/11 to 10/31/11 -- 2 months or 8 weeks
Goal is 202 lbs.
***This goal is made by losing 9lbs a month which I have been doing.
Hi VST,
I wanted to post for you my three months results post vsg with Dr. Ramos Kelly. This last month showed a 9 lb loss and this month is the same with a 9 lb loss, however this month showed a big turn out in inches. (You can view inches lost for this month now, just scroll down) So my body is changing its shape finally and many are seeing the difference including me. I am being more lenient with my diet, but I try to always stick with my water and protein first. I have yet to drink any soda or type of carbonated beverage and would now consider my self a nonsmoker as I have not smoked since I started my pre-op diet back in late April. Yippee!! Bonus, I am still taking my vitamins everyday which I thought would be difficult as I have never been on the pill popping thing, but I'm still trucking along with it. I will get some blood work done next month so I can compare it to my results before surgery. I will share them with you if you when I get them. I still use vertical sleeve talk.com to ask any questions I have and for support as well as a way for me to share my results with others. I also am still using the weighttracker.info to keep all my personal number data. This is a great site because they give so many ways to keep track of weight, inches, and so much more; plus I love to use the graphs on days I feel down. I try not to ever over do the scale. Some weeks there is a great loss and others there just isn't. Then it starts up again so I try to only weigh once a week on my Tuesdays so that I can add my weight to my charts. You will be able to see below in results, but I have only lost 3 lbs. in two weeks, but currently this week I have already lost 3 lbs. too. It's so weird, but I feel like I am getting a hold of the slows and the quicks on the scale and stick to what I am suppose to do and believe that all things will turn out fine. So no huge changes, but the ship is moving along just fine and from where I was to where I am now it has been amazing. Now to the results.

Notes:
Wow, amazing I can’t believe that I have lost 26 lbs. and -19.5inches!!! I sometimes think that these numbers could be way better at a monthout, but I have never before lost these kinds of numbers this fast in my lifeand trials of losing. I believe the reason I think they could be better isbecause I have made such a drastic change and I want things to happen now. However, I am losing the weight three times as fast if not more than I gainedit so that is fantastic in my book. Lastly, I am losing the weight now. I justcan’t tell right away, just like I couldn’t tell I had gained all that weightright away.
I haven’t had too many people notice the change or at least theyhaven’t said anything to me, but that is good in my opinion. I have choose sofar to keep this surgery a secret. I just personally feel that this is my bodyand my business and I don’t feel it necessary to tell everyone about it justyet. I for when I am ready to tell the masses and I’m sure I will, then andonly then will I tell them and that’s might right and choice. I have heard afew good compliments sent my way. Most people just say I look good and I’m ‘glowing’is the word I keep hearing. One guy asked if I was pregnant and another said Imust be in love. A few people have just said ‘wow, I don’t know what it is yourdoing, but just keep doing it you look great.’ I’m glad most have not asked andthat it is so noticeable yet. For the few that have asked I just tell them itmust be the great tan I am getting and that I’m just happy to be back andschool, enjoying the summer, and time away from work.
I know that I will get to where ever it is I am going with thissurgery sooner or later its’ just so hard in the moment. I think I can, I thinkI can, I know I can and I will because this is my chance and I will take it forit may be my only.
LET’S DO THE DAMN THING!!!
