My Journey

I am writing this with a heavy heart and just need to get somethings off my mind. I meet with my surgeon on Monday 3/1/10, the day after my 29th birthday. I am in no way concerned about the surgery, at this point it's a must in order to be around for my son. What's been on my mind the most is seeing myself THIN, I have been overweight my entire life. No I have not been the 337 lbs I am now but even at 12 I was 180 lbs. Nobody I know really understands being overweight, for them weight is something that hinders them from getting that new dress or fitting into some slacks. I or no one I know has HAD to have WLS. Currently when I tell family/friends they ask me are you sure? When I get asked that I want to tell them WLS is not elective surgery for overweight people its a way for us to live!!! Oh well wish me luck on Monday I have UHC insurance and I'm told they move pretty fast with their approvals.

One Month Post-op

I am down 40 lbs (that's with 16 lbs lost pre-op). I feel like a whole new person already. I have more energy, I feel like I've lost 100 lbs already lol! My surgery went VERY well and I would do it again in a heart beat. I had no real pain just discomfort the first week after that I didn't even need pain meds.   I'm loving the new me, and excited to see the rest of me. I didn't have any weight goals from the beginning just what ever I lose is what I lose. I only weigh myself every 2 weeks because I'm not really concerned about the numbers. Well I have a wedding coming up in September that alot of family will be here for and My best friends birthday in August. I would like to be in a size 18 by both events. I started out wearing a 26/28 (3x) now I'm wearing 22/24 (2x). So it think I can make it happen.   I got clearance from my surgeon to start working out with no restrictions so it's full steam ahead.

Let's see......

I went to see my surgeon Monday 3/1. He was great, he answered all my questions. I'm just playing the waiting game now waiting on insurance approval. I started exercising on my lunch break basically using the treadmill or walking for 15 mins. I have started doing the whole last meal thing for lunch I say this is the last time I will have onion rings or any other fried food. Oh well I'm trying to post some pics but its not working any ideas will help.

Let's get this show on the road!

My surguery is scheduled for 4-19-10 and I can't wait:thumbup:. The only thing I'm dealing with now is... I am a shop-a-holic :sneaky2: and can't shop for cute summer clothes UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I also planned a day trip to Chicago one week after starting my liquid pre-op diet (what was I thinking), but that's ok more money for a cute purse and sandels.   I am more excited to be off work for 2 weeks than I am to have surgery, but still counting the next three weeks down :scared0:.

Pre-op week one

I've just completed week one of my 14 day pre-op diet.   I did really well I WAS never hungry, which I was suprised about. I thought I was going to want to eat any and everything and couldn't do it but it was a breeze.   My trip to Chicago this weekend was great I shopped all day on my son of course.   I'm going to take sometime this week to reflect on alot of things mainly saying goodbye to my outside appearance and starting to welcome my new self. I'm going to post my comparision pre-op pictures the night before surgery.
