final weekend the Mexico!

Final weekend for me before sleeve! I am excited. Looking so forward to getting this tumor port out of me! This site has been so helpful. I was looking at the picture albums today, Tiff's is so incredible! I had no idea she was so "large" don't know any kinder word. I am going to take some before pictures and measure myself tomorrow. Pack my final things then off I go!!!!!

Final stretch 6 days

On the final stretch. I work till I leave bright and early Monday @ o-dark-30. My flight leaves @ 6:30 am and I am ~1hr away from the airport! At least I should sleep on the plane! I have really been enjoying food for the first time since I had the band. I have only gained 1 lb since my unfil. Since I get to eat real food I don't get so hungry! The last week reassured me that the sleeve will work for me.:biggrin0: Saw my PCP she was very supportive.:sad0: Got my check, passport card, bags semi-packed!:thumbup1:

New date

Got a new date...March 16th..kinda upset with my coordinator as I was not scheduled for on the day I thought and she didn't tell me. :scared0:I found out by a post on this board! Contacted the other coordinator, changed my tickets (Dr. Aceves is paying the difference) Changed my vacation at work PIA!! So now I am back on track. Sitting on the fence about an unfill , I have an appointment with a surgeon who will do it on Thursday. Gonna call today and try to resked. So worried about gaining too much weight I have been holding pretty steady +- 5 lbs. So close to goal. Weight loss ticker will go up when I weigh in for surgery. goal is 130. I can do this....

One step closer..

Stopped logging my food, I have done it so many times!! I KNOW what I need to eat! Can't wait to get this band unfilled. Got food stuck last night nausea and vomiting, It was just spaghetti So ready for the sleeve! !!! Weaning off the caffeine (still don't think it matters that much) but I am bound and determined to follow the directions Dr. Aceves gives me. I have no illusions that this is a major step for me. Got my samples!!! will start a list...

Getting close

Just about to pay my deposit and make (pay) for plane resv. I don't have a date till March (Dr. Aceves) What I know that other people my not (the oh you look fine...)   I have been gaining and losing weight my whole entire adult life! I am sick of it. :svengo: The band helped me I have been able to keep the weight off! unable to lose the last 25 lbs. :thumbup:   I hate this band, hate the tumor port.   Will getting a sleeve help me lose the last 25lbs....   Today going to concentrate on getting more fluids in, prep for sleeve!

collecting info

this is a major decision. Cutting a body part out...cost is factoring in somewhat, don't want to cheap out and get an infection. gonna call a few local MD and see what the price is I'm thinking twice Mex price for a revision. Since I had the band placed in Mex I'm over the concern of "going to Mex yikes!" HATE this band it is coming out no matter what my final decision. Having a total unfill done soon (tommorow if I can talk the surgeon I am seeing into doing it...-I could do it myself for that matter!!!) Don't freak out :scared0:if you are reading this I am an RN and would make sure it was a sterile procedure!-still I wouldn't do it ethics..)

Waiting..

Sent some questions to coord. waiting for answers. Made another plane rsv (on hold) will make (pay) soon I hope.   The more I think about it the more sure I am. The picture of the healed sleeve pushed by quite futher along 99%.   still have to tell my sister....:thumbup:

relief

I told my sister...We are very close. Now my who to tell list is done! 99.9% getting more "comfortable" . Now I am concerned with the hair loss..gonna look on the posts...I am close to goal 20-25 lbs, I didn't lose any with the band. Maybe the price I have to pay (for a short time as I know it will grow back, right????) Keep seeing the ads pop up on this site sleeve for $$$$$ some 1/2 of what the quote I got! But I want a quality surgery. Gotta finish paying for plane tickets. one more phone call from the coord. (had some more questions):thumbup:

Deal is done, time off from work, deposit sent, airline reservations made/paid for. Now I am on a quest for clear liquid protein..sooooo much Yuck.

???what the...

OK I have a fill....yesterday I ate a piece of pizza..chewed it well...my fear of stuckness must of had a holiday....back to band eating...I have gained 3 lbs... starting 1 month before sleeve gonna log my food into Sparkpeople to get in the groove for the first 6 months w/sleeve then NO MORE..so sick of obsessing about food!!!!! on a clear protein mission

6 weeks..

Today I started logging my food on sparks. Going to have a complete unfill in two weeks want to make sure there is no irritation, and no chance I will get something stuck. I have steadily been gaining weight since I am only eating food that won't get stuck (I did have a corn chip and it did, last night-just "mild" stuck-no puking!) I get hungry.and make poor food choices (ice cream comes to mind..) Had a talk with myself.....These 6 weeks will prep me for the accountability I will need for post sleeve. The light at the end of the tunnel...

Unfill 3/1

I changed my unfill date to 3/1 just not ready to trust myself! I need to start exercising but I am unable to do anything that involves feet, I had surgery on my foot and I still have pain, there is talk of removing a nerve!! I do lift weights also but I think I won't be able to do that post surgery. I do some walking at work it tops out my foot for sure! I love to exercise so this really sucks for me. Was really hungry yesterday..sure hope this sleeve can curb that feeling, I hate fighting it. This band is keeping me honest most of the time (we have soft serve ice cream at work :w00t: lately I have been having a cup at about 3p with chocolate syrup and nuts of course...and to make it worse you serve yourself) today I am going to have a protein drink ready, I bought a bunch of samples on line.

not so good

My drinking yesterday at work was a flop I got some strawberry powerade zero and mixed in unflavored injury powder. Well I just couldn't do it! I do not like "kool aid" taste :ack2: anything! I tried to sip it but just couldn't do it!. I also think I am going to wait and try the samples I got post-op. I only have 10 days (I think that is what Dr. Aceves requires) of clear. When I can drink full I will be able to have my tea and soy slender, can down a pot of that no problem. The good news is I didn't have ice cream yesterday! Ok I ate a cookie...:w00t: and some M&M's This hunger thing is really getting to me lately. This band sucks!

Today...

been not doing so good food wise. Eating slider again..had ice cream at work yesterday. Now I am scared I will just "eat around the sleeve" then I think if you could eat a solid food then maybe it would be Ok and the hunger thing if my hunger leaves I think I can do this. Since I am close to goal (moving further away!!) I hope to be at goal by July. Maybe this is unrealistic but I am getting this sleeve done. If I didn't think it would work for me I wouldn't do it. I am looking forward shopping for new clothes! I know that when I pull out my skinny stuff it will be way outdated (lucky me). Today is a new day I will see what it brings. NO ICE CREAM TODAY!:w00t:

Monday weigh day

Been off of the scale...I know I have gained weight..:crying: getting my unfill Monday. :ack2: I'll be sleeved before I know it! Reading other posts about folks at goal and eating normal foods will get me thru this. Love this board. Going to make Monday my weigh day.:w00t:

Unfill done

got my unfill yesterday. :biggrin0: Down the final stretch. I WILL NOT WEIGH MYSELF EVERYDAY. :sneaky2:Typing that make it more of a commitment. I weighed yesterday. Just two more times then sleeve city. Just gotta get my bank check. Geesh that is ALOT of money. Now time to save for PS...

1 WEEK POST OPWell I made it! Recap. The first 2 days were hard. nausea and a headac

Recap. The first 2 days were hard. nausea and a headache that wouldn't quit. The plane ride was rough got motion sick from the mountains on top of the nausea I already had. I had phenergan waiting for me when I got off the plane! I have had a cough esp bad at night called Dr. Aceves taking an extra nexium before I go to bed. Might need to up to 40mg in the am? HAVE NOT stepped on the scale I am so bloated, just taking it easy. Made myself an excel spreadsheet to track that I take my vits etc and tally my protein. I have used Sparkpeople before (in fact I got to my goal weight doing sparks-didn't last long!). I find having a piece of paper that I have posted and mark off inspires me. Making sugar-free Jello with Isopure 40 gm bottles.

3 weeks 1 day post-op

Just got back from my walk. Finally can exercise!! (I had surgery on my foot and finally it is OK!) Now I have to wait till I can do those sit-ups, weights etc....Dr. Aceves said 6 weeks....I started soft yesterday. Ate some instant mashed potatoes, things went ok, I can tell when to stop and eat very slow. Forgot how I don't like instant mashed potatoes so that will be my last serving of that! Today I am going to try egg salad for lunch. Trying hard to get fluid in. My protein has been 70+ gms. Taking my vits etc. I am so glad I did this. For once I really feel like this is going to work! My clothes are getting baggy. I have smaller sizes waiting for me. Not going to buy any more clothes till I am @ goal. ONWARD!!! Next weigh-in 4/18

One Month

One month today. Down 21 lbs. Hard to believe. Even w/ the lap band I didn't get this close to goal. One month thoughts: It was rough the first two days post-op I am glad I chose to stay in the Hospital vice go to a recovery house. I get too sick after anesthesia. Glad to have the 24/7 care. Money well spent. Clear liquids got old fast, Jello made w/Isopure 40mg bottles saved me w/my protein intake. Full liquids sugar-free pudding made w/injury protein got me thru the full. I found out I didn't like most of the samples I ordered. Ended up ordering a jug-o-Syntha-6 Chocolate peanut butter. (it will be nice when I can blend a banana it.) Injury protien was the only other one I could stand (Even my 30 mg from Costco I don't like so much anymore-been heating them up @ work seems to make them more doable) Bought a "bullet" LOVE IT!!! Taking the blender out each time I make a protein shake is PIA. Blending it in the bullet makes it taste so much better than just shaking it in a bottle. I put the empty cup in the dishwasher. Tried to eat some Egg Foo Young. Was like a rock in my stomach. Felt like it was never going to leave! Didn't feel nauseous just very uncomfortable. (Flashbacks of the lap band nausea then the vomiting so glad I got that thing out of my body!!!!) Now I am scared to move off of soft/mushies. In case you are reading this and wonder is it worth it. He** YES!!!! I would not have been able to do it w/o this board. I know there has been some controversy lately. Don't let that deter you from getting help and encouragement here. Dee
