Curvy vs Fat

Is it just me or is everything now curvy vs fat? I am tired of people now making excuses to be fat. No one will admit that being fat is unhealthy, which it is. I completely understand that we need to be proud of ourselves and take care of our appearances no matter what our weight is. I have been there and it was miserable finding clothes and feeling normal. I constantly hear fat people ( men and women) say they are healthy and they exercise. However, I know some of these people are maybe strolling a few days of the week. They are loading up on sugary drinks and then toss around their 'thyroid" issues. These are the same people who act high and mighty when they hear I had WLS. They may be lucky and the negative health problems have not hit them yet.   It just seems there is so much backlash now against WLS and people are being told to love themselves at every size. What I see happening is people are carrying an additional 50+ lbs and blaming it on genetics etc...which is not necessarily true. I do not believe in fat shaming ( since I was fat most of my life) but to take this " I am curvy" attitude is not healthy for anyone. People need to be honest and understand that when you are obese you are not curvy. It is not desirable and it is not good for your health. Period. No one should starve and be a bone but everyone should strive to be the best they can be. A healthy weight varies for everyone's size and frame.   I just feel sad when I see young girls shopping in the Plus size womens section when they are only 10yrs old. That is just awful

Loving Life!

I weighed in today and am down 26 lbs. So exciting! I was just banded 6/6 and I know the loss will slow down..but this is giving me motivation. Down 2 pants sizes and so I need to buy a few pairs of inexpensive pants so I can look decent at work. I have only been walking so looking to add weight training soon to tone up. I have to say I wish I would have considered Lap Band a few years ago. It is so nice to read all the posts/blogs of veteran banders. It makes such a difference to know how many people are dealing with the same issues. I have been following the instructions to the letter. I need the structure or I will be off track. One additional bonus is the money I am saving on food. No soda & fast food. Set that money aside to spoil yourself instead of stuffing yourself.

My first compliment

I was banded 6/6 and am down about 15 lbs. since( trying very hard not to weigh-in daily) I have been feeling great. I'm lucky that I have had no issues. It made my day today when a co-worker commented that I looked like I lost some weight. I carry most of my weight in my middle so my pooch is slowly melting. It just put a smile on my face on a busy Monday morning. I feel great since I gave up the diet soda. I quit cold turkey about a month go. I sleep better and feel lighter if that makes sense. I look forward to my evening walk. I'm just so happy I followed through and I hope I stay this positive & motivated in the months ahead.

Starting to exercise

Made a new playlist and did a 45 minute walk.Moderate pace...felt great to be moving!my goal is to walk until I am released to do weights/circuit.I sure missed walking-something relaxing. Its all about the music!I want to do my best & avoid as much loose skin as I can. However,I'm realistic...taking it one step at a time.

Am I too sensitive?

My teenage( Size 3)! daughter mentioned that I am no "fun" anymore. I just was banded 6/6 for goodness sake. She mentioned she misses the late night fast food runs and chinese buffets. wow. I know deep down she is happy for me but it kind of hurt my feelings. Is that uncommon? I wonder if other people have experienced little comments like that? My life really does revolve around food and over the last 6mos of pre-op I realized my obsession. My biggest addiction was diet soda--giving that up was hard and I was pretty grouchy for a week or 2. I also love to cook & watch cooking shows...so I have given that up temporarily.Maybe I am being too sensitive but I would like my family to just be patient for the next few weeks. I'm sure I will be ''fun' again when I have more energy

Day 4 Post-Op

Today was a good day! Had surgery 6/6.Gas pains are subsiding. I had my daughter drive me last night to run some errands.Feel the walking round helped ease things a bit. My issue now is boredom. I took 10days off work. I need to get a hobby! TV is nothing but one food ad after another. I need to organize my house but I still cant lift. I m in AZ so getting out in the day is out of the question. It is already 110 degrees. I never want to smell or taste another protein drink.Ugh! I need to try the unflavored powder and supplement in the future. Those choco-caramel & vanilla creme premixes are awful. I am so excited I stuck with the appproval process for insurance. I have told a few people about the surgery but mostly keeping it to myself. I am really looking forward to some small goals....taking on step at a time.People assume this is the easy way out...and from what I have read its a challenge each day.
