I wanted to write this because I know before my Lap Band surgery last Friday,I spent months reviewing blogs. I really wanted to hear from patients who had the same surgery I was having,at the same place.
I had my surgery last Friday 12/21/12 and could not have been more impressed with the whole process.
Everyone was on top of everything, attentive and kind from the Pre-Op Nurses to the Doctors.
The overnight Nurses and assistant I had were so kind and had great attitudes every time I hit that beeper!
My one bad experience was the day Nurse on the day I was discharged...no personality and not on top of anything.
However how can I complain when up to that point everyone was so wonderful!
The staff there provides great care, are very specific on what needs to be done post-op and have not problem answering all the questions I asked.
I had Dmitry Nepomnayshy and he came to see me Pre-Op and was very nice.
So if your a Lahey patient and not sure if you should get this done there....you can relax and know they will take good care of you.
I had my surgery on Friday and besides them finding a Hernia, went well.
I thought I would be so much more sore than this..the gas pain is no fun but can deal with it.
At what point will I start to feel "normal" again?
I am only a little over a week past my surgery..however the incision on my ride side is very sore.
I also feel a bump under it. Is this where the port is located?
I had my first fill last week,I believe it was 4cc.
I felt fine after,no issues holding down drinks and assumed I would feel some restriction when I started back on food.
Not only do I feel no restriction at all, suddenly the full feeling I had before is not lasting long.
I am scared that I am going to start gaining what I lost so far.
Should I call the Doctor and let them know or do I just wait it out?
Has this happened to anyone?
I am just into week 4 post op. Weeks 1-3 controlling eating was easy,I got full fast.
All of sudden I am not feeling full and able to eat more per sitting.
Seeing that part of my issue is over eating,I am getting nervous.
I do not get my first fill until 2/1 and dont want to gain what I have lost.
Is this normal to suddenly be able to eat more?
I know everyone progresses differently,so wanted to see if anyone else is going through this.
I am now on week 4 post op,according to my Drs I am supposed to be "starting" solid proteins.
Well I started that last week and eventhrough in a couple of vegtables.
I have had no issues and am tolerating everything.
I eat slow, smal bites...etc and have had no problems.
So should I go ahead and continue with this? I feel like I am breaking some rule but since I am not having issues would like to be able to get some veggies at least into me!
Any thoughts?
Does anyone on this Blog come from the Andover,Ma.area?
I need to find a support group fast.
I am only 4 months in and already using food as an emotional crutch to some hard times.
The scary thing is that It actually hurts to eat certain foods and yet I am anyway.
If this is not a sign that I need help,I do not know what is.
So if anyone knows of any place I can go to talk to other People who are going through what I am..I would really appreciate it.
The place I got the Surgery only meets once a Month and not at a convenient time for me.
I am just going into week 3 and for some reason am having tons of trouble with the food.
Week 1 + 2 were smooth sailing.
My Doctor is allowing me Yogerts, cream soups, cottage cheese, eggs, jello and sf pudding.
It sounds like plenty to chose from....yet I am so over any milk products. (I am Lactose intolerant)
Any suggestions on what to eat so I dont keep "cheating",I do not want mess this up or hurt my band.
I am having my first fill next week but not until early afternoon.
Can I eat regular food in the morning or should I have a shake?
They never told me and are very difficult to reach.
Thanks!
