Well I have just discovered this forum, and it looks great. I had my banding done by Dr. Ren at NYU on January 8th, so that would make today 19 days post surgery.
I did really well with the surgery. I went home the night of the surgery which was a Monday. I stayed home on the Tuesday and enjoyed my vicodin haze, and then I went back to work on Wednesday. If you think that is bad, after working on Thursday morning, I got on a flight that afternoon heading for Orlando. Yes, it's true, I went to Disneyworld three days after my lap band surgery while still on a liquid diet. I have to admit that sipping tomato juice while watching my family eat buffet meals wasn't particularly fun, but at least it gave me a sense of nobility.
I started my pre-op liquid diet on December 26th. I was supposed to start on December 25th, but I just couldn't. Even though I am jewish, my husband isn't, and his mom makes a kick ass Christmas dinner. It wasn't very easy starting on the 26th since we were in England for the holidays. The 26th is Boxing Day, and I had forgotten that I promised to host dinner that day. So my first day of my liquid diet was spent cooking wonderful food (including some great desserts). I did it though. I didn't screw up the liquid diet at all until the weekend before my surgery when I was at a Bar Mitzvah. I couldn't resist some of the appetizers.
I managed to lose 15 pounds pre-op on the liquid diet, and then another 10 post surgery through January 17th. Since then nothing, nada, zilch. It is a bit frustrating because I am staying between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. At my weight, the pounds should me sliding off me, but alas it ain't so. I do feel great because I have gone down a size. I am out of my cotton lands end pants and back into my size 22 jeans. Everyone keeps noticing how much weight I have lost. I keep explaining that they are getting the double effect. Instead of loose cotton pants that let it all hang out, I am encased in tight jeans that hold as much as they can in.
I'm hoping this plateau ends soon. I hate plateaus. I don't thing that's fair. I am still hungry a lot of the time. I know that I am not drinking enough water. It is really hard to remember to drink with the limitations. No drinking 5 minutes before eating and 20 minutes after. By the time I remember to drink something, it is either too early or too late.
I have my first fill scheduled on February 21st. I am curious to see what I feel like after that. Well I have written enough for my first posting.
Good luck to all that read this. Here's to us!
