Flintstone's Vitamins!

I was way too tired all weekend, so I decided I needed more protein (sick of the shakes) and vitamins I was willing to take. I got some bean soup, which I make watery and chew well, and some Flintstone's Vitamins. They taste good...much better than the liquid stuff I bought and used once! The bean soup and vitamins made me feel better. I saw a comment about being uncomfortable at day 13. Wow...that sounds like maybe there's a problem? I still have a little discomfort where my port is, but it only bothers me when I roll over in bed...and even that is minimal. I watched a video last night from this woman...much younger than me...who is about six weeks post op and has only lost 20 pounds...mostly pre-op. This made me feel a little better, since most videos are showing people dropping weight really fast. I'm trying to be realistic. After all, I'm over 50! I lost about 5 pounds pre-op and about 3 since the surgery. I'm OK with that. So now, it's almost 8pm and I have to be to work early in the morning...so to bed with me! Thanks to everyone for your support!

First "puke!"

Day 9...OK...How am I eating? Well I had no problem with liquids, soups, pudding, applesauce...all very slowly the past 2-3 days. Today, however, I went too far. I got scrambled eggs and a sausage patty at McDonald's on the way to work. I thought, "I'll just cut it up small and eat it slowly"...and if I'd have done that, it might have worked. But, I got distracted and started eating too fast. I felt the restriction for the first time! I finally shut the door of my office and just let it come back up. It wasn't like throwing up...I hate that...it was fairly mild. However, I don't really want to do it again. So, slow and gentle is my game now. I'm kind of glad it happened. I needed to feel what would happen. Thanks for all the comments...this is very therapeudic (or however you spell that)!

Day 7, 4/29/2012

This is day 7. My surgery was last Monday, 4/23/2012. My lovely daughter-in-law took me to the hospital...an hour away, at least. The worst part has been having to cough during the first few days. I went back to work Wednesday, day 3. I was very sore and tired, but I got through it. I'm not telling friends and family, except my sons, daughters-in-law, and 3 people I work with. Not everyone is supportive! I was able to have lunch at Chili's yesterday, with one of these people, and she didn't notice. I had the chicken enchilada soup...which I ate very slowly and chewed the chicken bits to death. I was full, but not uncomfortable. I told her I couldn't eat anything that wasn't soft because of my temporary crown. My surgeon's rule is, if it doesn't bother you, it's OK. So, I've probably been doing things most people don't...driving and working on day 3, switching to some mushies on day 6.

Back To Soup And Other Soft Stuff

Day 10 post-op. Today was much better. Yogurt, applesauce, soup, and liquids. I'm getting used to the smaller amount of food...I don't mean my stomach, I mean my brain is getting used to it. I keep forgetting to report the best part...no more heart-burn (could be the band or the hernia repair...don't care) and my knees are feeling better...just by dropping 10 pounds! I had the energy to babysit tonight and to wash my kitchen floor. Yay!

Tummy Rumbles

Day 14...My burning question is....How long before my "bottom stomach" stops rumbling? I can be full, but I still get that hungry rumbling. Otherwise, all is good. It's time to mow the yard. I think I'm physically OK to do it...I just don't want to! But I must or people will wonder what's up, and I still have kept this a secret from most people.
