Post Op Update

i was banded on december 1st and as of last week (my first dr's appt) i lost 25 pounds since liquid diet. i can't believe that 25 pounds in less than three weeks. i go back to him next wednesday and i am waiting for that appointment to hop on the scale. what a tough time to be banded, alot of parties and alot of temptations, but if we can get through this month i know we will be ok. went back to work yesterday and i feel great. hope everyone is doing well.

Surgery In Three Days

i can't believe that this day is actual almost here. i remember finding out in august that i had a surgery date of december 1st and it seemed lifeyear's away. three more days. i am starting to really get super excited about this. liquid diet sucks. lol. i can't wait for something solid to eat. never thought i would be craving a piece of grilled chicken. good luck to all december bandsters

unflavored protein shakes

are unflavored protein shakes really unflavored? just wondering because i have a few recipes that call for adding unflavored protein shakes to foods to add extra protein. be honest. does it have a flavor at all?

just got a call from the surgeon's office

i just received a call from the surgeon's office that my final meeting with her will be this Thursday at 2:00. also found out that they will be making my pre-surgery admittance testing today. i am so close. two weeks from thursday and i will be banded. i have this smile on my face that i just can't get rid of. actually, i don't want to get rid of it, i want to wear it for the next 50 years. this just made my day. actually thursday is my birthday so i think this is going to be a great week.

fellow December Bandsters

Don't forget to take plenty of before pictures even before you start your pre -surgery diet because people have lost a good amount of weight during that period. I am going start taking mine.

Flu shot anyone!

Last night my husband and i went to CVS for our flu shot. i think november, december and january bandsters should make sure they get theirs. every year i seem to get the flu the week between christmas and new years and since i am getting banded on december 1st, the last thing i want is the flu. also if it is flu season think about how many people in the hospital and doctor's office could be spreading the flu. also you wouldn't want the doctor's to cancel your surgery date if you became sick. we have been waiting so long and it would stink to have to postpone your date.   i hate to throw up and i am sure after being banded, that is the last thing i would want to happen. i went to CVS and gave them my blue cross blue shield card and it didn't cost me a co-pay.   GET YOUR FLU SHOTS MY FRIENDS!!!

Any suggestions for a Lap Band companion book or diet tips book that isn't outdated?

I was interested in buying a book to help with my lap band journey. my nutritionist mentioned a book called Eat This Not This, but it seems like there are alot different choices and that got me thinking about how Lap Band Diets are pretty unique so i figured I would go straight to the source. Thank you for your suggestions. seven more weeks to go to surgery.

8 weeks to surgery with nothing but time to think.......

I weigh 288 pounds. I have tried many diets in the past and have lost weight, but I always gain it back to get back to the 290 area. not sure why my body seems to like that number. I know I hate it. I don't stop eating when I am full, especially when i made something or bought something that tastes great or that i hadn't had in a while. i sometimes wait about fifteen minutes and even though i am not hungry, i go back for more. i feel like i am asking myself so many questions.... how is the lap band surgery going to change this? how is the lap band going to not make me eat junk food or sweets as a meal instead of a wise protein choice? i can't seem to do that now. I lost 83 pounds in 7 months on weight watchers a few years ago and i used most of my 33 points each day on junkie food or bad choices, but i still lost weight because i kept to my points. but of course gained it all back. what is the answer to not over eating? i have read some posts from bandsters that found themselves a few years later back to the weight that they were before the surgery. what is the likelihood of this happening? skinny people just don't get what we go through everyday. why do we live to eat instead of eat to live? i am just sick of having to deal with this issue, how did we find ourselves in this situation? life is hard enough without having to worry about your weight. why do some people have this connection with food and others don't? maybe i should go into this like a recovery addict does- ONE DAY AT A TIME.

completed my upper endoscopy

what a shocker. I had my upper endoscopy yesterday. wasn't bad at all and my blood pressure was good throughout the entire procedure even though i was nervous. i found out that i have gastritis (which my dad had); reflux esophagitis (both my children as babies had reflux) and something called gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema (whatever that is)lol. I have to take a med called Aciphex now and i hope i can still have the surgery or that this doesn't delay the surgery. the doctor took four biopsies so i will know more in a few weeks when i have my follow up with him. thank goodness we get this opportunity to have our health checked out before the surgery. i wouldn't have known that i have these problems. i get heartburn some times but nothing more than that so i would guess that i have mild cases of these ailments. This is my last test and i hope in two weeks i get clearance from the doctor and i can be on way to my December 1st date of surgery. anyone had these problems? did it delay the surgery? anyone on Aciphex? Thank you for your support
