One Month Banded

Today marks one month since being banded. I did the math because I spent almost 18,000 on WLS every pound lost equals $155.00 dollars. To me that is money well spent. Highlights this week is a three pound loss (465 dollars lol) My lumps and bumps are smoothing out. You know what I mean cottage cheese lumps on legs. I think about how I want my sexy legs back. I have awesome calves very muscular and sexy but the thighs yuk! Now they are just smoothing out. No lumps.   I have a mini skirt waiting for me   First day in over a week I went over my calorie limit. Not bad. I average 700 calories a day and today was 1053

What Was I Thinking

I actually had that thought when I woke up from a nap yesterday. All of a sudden it came crashing down on me what I had done. Wow. Do I regret it today, no not one bit. I just realized no huge cheeseburgers again and No binge eating. Maybe its the liquid diet that got to me or maybe it just happens to everyone. Lost 4 pounds so far since Wednesday. I guess thats normal since Im only drinking water and cream soup, some oatmeal and pudding. Doesnt even add to 500 calories. Still very sore. I just want to nap cause my energy level is in the pits. Back to work tomorrow. Not looking forward to sitting at a desk all day. Cant wait until I feel at least strong again.

Back to Work

Went in to work today. Very hard to sit at a desk. My stomach is really hard which makes it hard to sit up straight. I hate being slouched over. I even attempted to do billing standing up and leaning down I called the doctor cause it seemed strange to be so rock hard in my upper abdomen. But was told that it is perfectly normal. Asked me if I have been passing gas(aka farting lol) I guess thats one way of getting rid of it . He suggested Gas X might help. So chewed two of those babies. Now as a good wife I am cooking the family dinner. Roast, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. I will enjoy some applesauce and oatmeal.   I am having a mind battle as i am not physically hungry but I want to eat something of substance. Even a beautiful salad sounds so yummy at the moment. This too shall pass.

Bad Food Choices

I am 3 weeks post op and I am told by my dietitian not to diet yet but stay on mushy/ pureed foods. In doing that I am gravitating to not so good food choices like pudding, mashed potatoes and cereals. I'm afraid my mindset wont change. I am not satisfied and feel like eating and am eating more than just those three meals. Not sure what I should do. I haven't gained but hasn't moved either. Just getting over TOM's visit so I'm not sure if that has part to do with it cause it started around the time I got the curse Wondering what others do during this stage? My first fill is scheduled June 15th.

Things I dont Want to Know

After reading alot of posts on lapbandtalk.com I have come away with not wanting to know a few things. The main thing is that I do not want to learn how to cheat the band. I do not understand wanting to cheat the band. I am self pay and that would be like burning the hard earned money to pay for it.   I have skipped over posts relating to this subject.   Something I don't want to ever experience again is a stuck feeling. I haven't had a fill and casually was chewing seedless grapes when I swallowed one WHOLE. It was almost immediate discomfort then serious pain. I freaked. I prayed. I tried to belch, burp, anything. I pounded on my chest bent over and tried to puke it up. Well it finally went somewhere, not up. Scared the living crud out of me.   I have to watch this. Also chewing gum. I have in the past swallowed. Bad idea with the band.   Some more randomness on lap band stuff: Trying to find ways to get high protein that is not animal based, this list shows all sources of protein.

First Fill

Today was my first fill. Yippie cause I was starting to have real hunger issues last few days.   I had 3 cc by the time I left the doctors office.First she filled me to 4 then when nothing passed backed out of it until she settled for a 3. Hope this goes well. Watching the process of liquid pass slowly really gives you perspective on your lap band as a tool. I have to chew like never before after watching how liquid has a hard time passng.       They also have put me on a strict diet in my opinion.   Not so much counting calories but actually telling me what to eat and when.       Breakfast: either two eggs cooked with a little olive oil or pam or my Atkins bar       Lunch: Salad w/protein. She said no dressing except a little olive oil. I talked her into a little spritx of like rasberry vinegar or cider vinegar also.       Dinner: Protein and a vegetable.       Snacks: 1/4 c. almonds or piece of fruit.       Seems pretty hardcore Im already doing that but I guess being told what to do. I am rebellious and I shouldnt be.       Some interesting things was watchig my pouch expand when the fluid wouldt pass.   That was pretty awesome. Just like filliig a balloon with air.       What I hate is the liquid diet but it is necessary and useful.       Boy am I glad I had a mini omelette for breakfast

This Liquid/Mushy Diet Bites

Yep its official this liquid/mushy diet sucks royally! I walked around Wal Mart grocery looking for mushy food I would want to eat and yeah resorted to buying more yogurt and soup.     But I am thinking maybe I will drop some pounds this month. I have only lost 11 pounds since the surgery 13 days ago. Only woke up with a .5 loss this morning. But I havent been able to walk much cause I do not feel well. I believe its just from lack of nutrients. Tomorrow Im allowed to go on supplements and vitamins and minerals. I am not getting enough protein either, everything Ive found I cant seem to stomach. It is just gross. I am hoping after talking the supplements and vitamins I will feel stronger. I am getting plenty of calcium as seems I can tolerate yogurt and milk products well. Heres hoping to some energetic days soon.

AH Relief

Yesterday went to see my care provider. Bandages off, incisions are small except for the one by the port. I think they will heal nicely, not raised or bumpy. Care provider said full liquid diet and follow the handbook they gave me. Well handbook says Im on week two and I can go to pureed foods. So I had a little cottage cheese, oatmeal and and a shake today. Not hungry. She said it will come back but I dont want the hunger to come back. It gets difficult to be around other people eating. Some of the guys had cheeseburgers for lunch and one had a hot roast beef sandwich and potatoes and gravy. Smelled yummy. Im not hungry but my mouth is watering I saw a picture of my lovely band. She asked if they put some fluid in my band already. That I could not answer. I do have some left shoulder pain that comes and goes and not sure what that is. The terrible gas and bloating has gone and I feel human again.   Im wanting a potato. Dont know why but I do. Maybe my body needs a certain mineral. Cant go on supplements until next week.   Its been one week since my surgery and I have went to work everyday this week. I am pooped but recovering quickly.   I ordered some exercise videos "Zumba Dance" for my Kinect and P90X. I know Im not ready for either yet but getting geared up.

Officially Banded

Had a rough night before heading to the city to check in for surgery. I havent had a dream of my deceased grandmother in years. She was a RN and a DON who I respect she told me in the dream that she didnt think it was a good idea. Just great. I aldready had fears of not waking up. I do have an over active imagination. Thank goodness it was just my mind playing tricks on me as I went to bed nervouse and apprehensive about surgery. As you can see I woke up lol. Had some concerns cause anesthisia makes me vomit but they loaded me up with medicine not to vomit. I am so sore. I am amazed at how much I used my stomach muscles to do every day movements like getting up from a reclining position or getting up from a seated position. I guess work through the pain. Theres a little bleeding from the incision sites(5) but they said that was normal. Not interested in eating. Too much trauma to want to. So far had one serving jello and one cup clear broth and some apple juice. Go home tomorrow. Cant wait.   Check out this huge potty. Never seen one that big before

Home Sweet Home

So glad to be home. Getting around better. I dont want to even think about food. The thought makes me want to puke. I have ate some jello twice today. Feels weird going down. I know I am not filled but I can feel the jello slide by something. Maybe its just cause Im tender there. My stomach is still so hard from the anesthia. Feel 9 months pregnant. Feeling brusied all over. Tommorow I can increase to fuller liquid diet but at this point not interested in it. I do feel weak cause of not eating and just want to sleep.

Day 3

Slept like a baby. Not much into taking stuff for pain but I wanted a good nights rest. I had to go into work today to do payroll as I am the only one who knows how. So worked for about 3 hours then went home. Still sore but not extreme. I am still so bloated from the gas I look 9 months pregnant, this might sound gross but Im tooting like crazy. Not sure if thats how my stomach will go down lol from the gas pressure. Ate a pudding cup(fat free) and a cup of cream soup. And now Im babying a chocolate slim fast which tastes gross to me Cheers to all the bandsters out there.

Too Much

Yesterday was a busy busy day. Probably the first weekend since being banded that I was able to really do some yard work. We are having a family cook out for 4th of July. Alot of my husbands family will be here that has never been here and we have been married 20 years So I really busted my butt.   I used the tiller in the garden and hoe'd and raked for a total of 3 hours with a few breaks sitting in the shade. I sweated like a pig. Good for the pores But late that night had some pain in my port area. I am taking a break and not exercising today. Totally going to veg.   I am trying to really focus on what I want in my life. So many hidden things to discover about why I got in this position. Some things I discover and deal with probably wont be pleasant but at same time. I know it has to be more than just eating bad.     Here is to self discovery. Even if it might be difficult and hard to face.

Week Recap May 28-June 3

I know its probably because the majority of food has been bad carbohydrates: mashed potatoes, puddings and such. Today I got more protein today in. I decided to move onto soft foods not just mushy pureed food and seemed much more satisfied. Today I ate a half cup of almonds that I chewed forever for breakfast, tuna with a little of mayo over some fresh lettuce picked from my garden. Then at dinner I made some crappie fried and ate three brocolli florets with a little cheese. Todays calories though only added up to 883. I had astrange episode this afternoon though. While in my garden I was bending over and my vision went strange and I got dizzy. Had to sit but it wouldnt go away. So I laid down for an hour. Dont know what that is about. Tomorrow Im going to do light aerobics and just move. Need to get this thing on a roll

Kutting Weight and Sweet Sweat

Decided to get off my a$$ and jumped on treadmill. I decided why not try this new product I bought. It is a sweat suit from Kuting Weight. Am I crazy. YES. It was already 90+ degrees here and my treadmill is in the sun room. Also put on the lotion that is supposed to help you sweat in those places that never sweat. For me it would be arms and thighs. I looked like a bratwurst with the skin wrapped too tight. But I was determined. I only did it for twenty minutes as I was sweating like a pig a a pig roast. But goal accomplished I sweat-ed my butt off. Going to garden now to hoe

Pre Op Appointment Set

So next Tuesday I visit the doctor who will perform my surgery and take my money   I first went in for my consult in 2008 and was not ready to take such drastic measures. But Im three years older and a failure at yet another attempt to lose weight. I used HCG and lost 50 pounds but after going off of it have only kept 15 off. So taking the plunge and going for it. Im here to learn and gain wisdom from others who are losing and maintaining weight loss with the lap band.   So here goes everything ...............................

Cheap Date

Went for my first restaurant meal since surgery on May the 11th. I have to get used to not getting to eat certain items. Im still on the mushy stage for foods until my first fill on June 15th. So I picked a cream potato soup. Not great choice calorie wise but Im not supposed to be concerned about that until my first fill. I enjoyed it but my families family go out to meal is steak and seafood. So my son loves Lonestar. The guys got huge Ribeyes. To date I am down 14 pounds. I started supplements three days ago. Yuk. Chew-ables. I feel like Im 4. We have a home group for bible study once a month and yeah we host. So that means I provide the majority of the food. Didnt feel like cooking so bought a coconut cream cake and fruit platter. and I ate yogurt. Had some questions about why I wasnt eating and I just said Im having some stomach issues at moment. Everyone left it at that For some reason I have become addicted to the food network lol. Hooked on Hungry Girl

Finally Satisfied

I made some lentil soup which for some reason gave me some satisfaction. Maybe it was the cooking part. I put in a jar of baby food, pureed ham lol. Didn't taste too bad. I also made my husband some potato salad to go with his steak. Man is it hard to cook and not taste to make sure it was the right seasoning combination. Managed just tasting a little to see if I got it right. o well we will see what the scale says about that. SO far only had 600 calories so shouldn't be too bad. I was bad though I had a few sips of husbands wine. It was heavenly

It Moved

Nope not talking about my bowels lol. Not this time Scale hasnt moved in days it seems. Havent been discouraged just figured the big ride was over and now I really had to work at it. I have been putting that sauna suit on every morning for the last three days along with a lotion that is supposed to make you sweat more and get on treadmill. I naturally dont sweat alot. So it helps. Scale finally moved with a pound loss. So yeah Im happy. Then night time is a killer for me. Always was a snacker. So I walk again for 30 minutes this time at night but outside.
